I have a ton of ideas about what to do about the "lack of community", but it's a significant time commitment for me to do it. Also, it would involve work in Joomla, a platform I no longer have much interest in and haven't kept up with.
However, assuming I eventually get to it, the gist of what I want to do is get rid of the current forum architecture and replace it with Fireboard, which runs native under Joomla and thus consumes fewer system resources. Additionally, I would install Community Builder, so that each member would have his own profile page, with the option of posting images, blog entries, stories, possibly RSS feeds, etc, and even setting up Yahoo-style groups.
Community Builder sounds interesting. I'm becoming increasingly disenchanted with forum-style community sites. A wiki style section with the ability to categorize and sort stuff would be appealing to me.
Well yes and no. Personally I don't write and I don't draw. I'm not an artistic person. My way of supporting the community has always been by commissioning artists. And I did that: over 3,000.00$ in nearly 4 years. I'm not spending that much anymore, obviously because of the economy.
For example, a few months back I shared with you guys an FMG sequence I commissioned.
Must have missed that one. I searched a bit in your previous posts, but didn't come across it. Would you mind posting the link to that thread?
