    I do the same thing, but with a mirror (rather than holding it to the light).

    's not bad Kusanagi. I recommend tracing other people's work as a learing tool. You trace their lines, you then trace photographic reference, the idea being that you can build up an understanding of what lines create what image – how lines bend and curve and join together to form images. It helps me, because you can't just draw what you see or what you know without learning the basic principles of the line as an icon. The line as an icon is like pronounciation. You may know the alphabet, and what you want to say, but you can't say it unless you know how to pronounce it. 🙂
