I pitched this to DCM last year over lunch: I believe there is a revenue model for a female muscle illustration site.  However, there must be enough artists involved to manage at least five updates per week.

    I'd be interested.

I used to use non-blue, but it pissed me off something chronic. I don't use it. A lot of people do I think for post-scanning, I think getting rid of blue lines is easier than getting rid of black ones or something.

    I dunno.

I dont know if the current comic artists dont go to art schools anymore. In fact, this is not relevant. Im just surprised the way Cho developed a comic style that emphasis realism, lacked of cliches or exaggerations, without any academic influence.

And what I'm saying is that, I don't think it's surprising at all.

Fair point – save that those people who 'broke' the mold are accredited such distinction after decades of work in the medium, those I mentioned are still a good twenty years from being recognised as having 'broken the mold'.

But, as I say, the artists who make up Gaijin Studios, a studio renown for having an extremely talented pool of artists, did not attend art education and are self-taught.

My point is: Frank Cho being self-taught isn't surprising for current comic artists of his caliber. It seems virtually every comic artist who is not a 'veteran' has had no real formal training.

As someone who attended art school – the fact that good artists didn't go to art school isn't surprising. There were no good artists at the art school, so they had to be somewhere! ^_^
