Jessica Biel’s much envied hourglass shape has been the subject of almost as much discussion as her on-off relationship with Justin Timberlake.
There’s no doubt that her fabulous shape has helped her become one of Hollywood’s most sought after actresses, but what is the secret behind the 29-year-old’s toned and feminine body?
In an exclusive interview with Starlounge, Jessica’s trainer Jason Walsh reveals how he helped the star completely transform her frame.
The Los Angeles based movement specialist began working with Jessica four years ago and he says his main focus was re-proportioning her body.
“Before Jessica came to me, she very much did ‘old school’ training with machines. It tended to lead to disproportioning in her shape,” he tells Starlounge.
“I began doing full body movement exercises, so that her body moved ‘in concert’. Her body changed in three months. Now, she’s very much in proportion. Her waist, legs, arms and shoulders fit nicely together and look better.”
Jason helped redefine Jessica’s figure by working on her shoulders, biceps and triceps.
“We do things like bicep curls using a low weight, followed by pull-ups,” he says. “We also flattened the stomach doing twists and hanging leg raises.
“I incorporate lunges, crunches, squats and core work with light weights and high repetitions.”
He explains that Jessica also uses a medicine ball which she holds while doing lunges and twists.
“We also do plenty of walking lunges, which stretch the larger leg and glute muscles so there’s no bulk up, and then Russian twists with the ball,” he adds.
The trainer says he work’s with star two or three times a week in the studio or outside and they tackle every body part rigorously using hundreds of different exercises that Jason has devised, with the foundation base being movement, and the body parts moving together.
Jessica is currently on location in Toronto filming the remake of ‘Total Recall’ and her body is looking better than ever.
According to Jason, Jessica compliments her strict regiment by eating a diet of non-processed foods, plus she watches how much she eats throughout the day.
“Clients like Jessica might eat small meals five times a day, which consist of lean meats and vegetables,” he says. “Sometimes for a snack I’d suggest a protein shake with berries.”
He says he has advised Jessica to eat smaller meals as that are low fat and low carbohydrate as the day goes on, but to make sure she eats some fat.
“Jessica might have oatmeal when she wakes up, a chicken salad for lunch, fruits as snack and then dinner might be something like fish, vegetables and rice,” he adds. “I always suggest Kale to her because it’s packed with anti-oxidants.”
Jason’s Top Tips
1) Try All Pro Science recovery shakes, they are the best protein supplement on the market.
2) Do sled pulls and pushes with Sorinex sleds.
3) Stop long distance running and start sprinting 20, 30 or 45 seconds followed by that amount of rest.
4) Start working out without shoes for stronger feet and better foot performance.
5) Its not about weight loss, its about feeling and looking fit and healthy, and in proportion.
6) Eat organic and drinks lots of water
7) Have your treats. It’s about not over eating. We do tend to eat way toomuch!By Emma Bussey / Starlounge
