JimmyDimplesParticipant
Now THAT'S got me worried, cpbell. After I had discovered Yorkie chocolate bars, and their slogan on them, I pursued and found this advert on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LH2pLzdeCP0
I think it's funny, clever… and I'm wondering where it's going to be left in the wake of this. ???
Ladies, I don't think I should ask, but… is THIS too sexist for you?
JimmyDimplesParticipantExcuse the thread necromancy, but I figured this would have been appropriate. I figured the newer folks on this site who hadn't seen this might want to share their experience, if they wanted.
I'd have posted earlier, but this site loads molasses slow during the evenings here in China.
(Oh, and I encapsulated my comments here and experiences in an article on my DeviantArt site.)
Lest we forget.
JimmyDimplesParticipantStrong girl meets geekette?
Y'know, I'm surprised that nobody's thought of this little possibility before:
The Magic/Swordfight Live Action Role Play Convention.
Yeah, my first internet friend I'd had an F2F meeting before was a classic geek. She had the glasses, the band membership, the French horn talent, the fascination with Star Wars, Sailor Moon and other anime, fanfiction, Dance Dance Revolution, tabletop roleplay games of all sorts… and yes, medieval battle recreations with foam rubber stuff. Think sword fights with weapons made out of PVC plumbing material.
The only blot on a perfect geekette record? She was quite lovely with her glasses off. (And pretty cute still with them on.) 😉
She was no Amazon, sadly. Not in the purely physically bodily sense, anyway. But she could smack somebody with a Nerf sword easily enough.
So think if a weekend wizard/warrior woman thought about getting in better shape for the Big Convention/Battle Campaign in the city park next season, doing more exercise, cardio, and working out purely for tone. 😉 At first….

Well, I went ahead and proclaimed the situation a la 10-4 over at my dA journal.
Oh, and just to say it out loud… I loves DCM art. I also have a thing for BlackKusanagi's stuff,
Mikazuki's,
Refaal's,
ArchangelDreadnought's,
Satsurou's
and DwarfPriest's, muscle or not.And though Zanfadar's works for Hunter Creek's collection are a bit thinner in the leg than I'd expect, it's top notch, too.
Those are the first off my head, folks, so I hope I didn't snub anyone. Forgive me if I have, though. There's just so much that looks good! 🙂
JimmyDimplesParticipantWell, the truth is… I've been afraid to ask. :-[
I think it's pretty self-evident whose big fanboy I am, 😉 simply from looking at my virtual bookshelf of fanfic stories. However I'm extremely reluctant to ask anything from him, because he's immensely popular, is thus up to his eyeballs in requests and commissions already, and, like me, has to keep up with an AFK life.
Oh yes, I've done original stuff (hey, it happens), but I'm still not quite sure who'd be the best artist for it. I try to envision an artist's style, and I can't seem to make it and my story fit together. I think my stories are sort of the Dr Pepper of the genre… sweet, but the flavor's kind of hard to pin down.
Also, something crippling… I'm afraid making requests will make me look like a moocher, and the ones that I like are already booked solid. I'd gladly trade in my junk food money for commissions, of course, but I'm kind of a cash-and-carry person… and have you ever tried to send money from beyond the People's Republic of China?
While I'd welcome any artwork of my stuff gladly, I guess I've been content/resigned to letting my artist be the Mind's Eye.
JimmyDimplesParticipantI just checked his deviantArt site… he's been offline that for over 41 hours, too. I don't think it's panic time, but I am concerned. ???

JimmyDimplesParticipantI recall fondly the Jogger. 🙂
I also wanted to do a story for Ms. Coco Nutt. Never got around to it. Maybe over the weekends to come….
JimmyDimplesParticipantCameos for others, I think I've done one or two times, and have one or two in the works now. Myself?
Well, two things in the way of that: (1) I tend to have a bit of myself at least partially vested in the hero or main characters, so inserting myself for a cameo feels somewhat redundant. And (2) this is supposed to be an entertaining story, not an ego trip. I don't want to risk Gary-Stu-ing this, or otherwise gumming up the plot, so I tend to pull myself away. I believe that if I am the supah-kewel, lovable, everybody-likes-me person I know myself to be :P, other writers will put me in their stories.
Of course, I'm still open to a minor-helper/give-directions/innocent-bystander-diving-for-cover/pull-a-small-child-out-of-harm's-way sorta dealie. 😉 I just haven't found the right spot yet.
JimmyDimplesParticipantI myself am reminded of a quote from Oscar Wilde:
"If the Queen can't treat her prisoners any better than this, she doesn't deserve to have any." :-
