    I don't call it "self-censorship," AlexG.  I call it "editing."  😛

But seriously, there are some things I just don't do.  You might notice that in my stories, people don't curse or take the Lord's name in vain.  Y'see, back in the day when Little Jimmy's folks were building a new house, Little Jimmy was fiddling around with letters and making nonsense words at random.

Then he not very prudently scrawled one on the cinder blocks making the house's crawlspace.

Jimmy's dad saw this, went nuclear, and took a paint stirring stick against Li'l Jimmy's backside.

Later on, Jimmy said it out loud.  On purpose.  To his MOTHER.  She gave him the same thing.

Big Jimmy's been a VERY clean mouthed chap after that.

And as far as sex, well… I think I've spoken about that elsewhere.

But just for the record, the JimmyDimples rules of writing say:  If I can't show it to the MPAA, or my students, or my pastor… I can't show it.

I know, it may seem unrealistic at times when I'm writing stories including, oh, I dunno, a motorcycle gang… but I think I can get away with it. 😉

Okay, first off, I honestly don't have a dog in this fight at all.  I've never darkened the door or towels of said site or its forum.  Never even gotten an invite.  And from all trusted accounts here, I don't want one.  (I'm a Site Superhero in a quite good forum already, thankyavermuch.  😉 )

    That said…

I'll never understand the 'Forum Sawadas' fixation on other message boards.  Why do they care what people say about them on other forums?

    Like we're doing?  😛

No disrespect of course, Lingster, really.

But aside from warning uninitiated netizens who might be considering joining Schmaradas or whatever, or the works that are pirated but can't be seen anyway without a subscription, I'm thinking we should simply let the ship sink quietly.  What's up with the deathwatch?  They haven't left any of their ill gotten gains to US in the will, AFAIK.  😛

Ouch on landing on the high heels?

Assuming they didn't simply break off under her weight on landing.

I am curious… what IS her height and mass in this impressive picture?

(I know that's not NEGA-Sheeri… but that expression'd still get me concerned if I were in her vicinity.)

After I finally crossed the digital divide and got online, I was first into anime fanfiction with a play-by-e-mail roleplay game.  We'd create characters, start an adventure idea, write what our characters do, send it to the other players, they write what theirs do, and gradually built a story which would get posted on the web.  Mine was a magic princess/warrior who struggled with the fact she got an inch taller every time she transformed into a heroine.

The fact I'd also was struggling with weight loss at the time probably tempered my writing a bit.

Later I'd done some searches for giantess stories… and I stumbled into the female muscle growth genre.

At first when I read the stuff, I was bummed by how raunchy too many of the stories were, and that the guy was a total doormat four times out of five, and that the girl was a power-tripping ogress.  So as a challenge, and just to see what the community's reaction would be… I wrote a story where the guy was a shrimp among a bunch of insanely amazonian females in his world, and he still held his own and got the better of them in his own right.

Admittedly, I focused on his personality at the cost of developing the others, but I still got positive responses from readers.

And later, I decided to focus on the females, and do something positive with the strong females.  That's when The Stray, and the Dyna fanfics and Like a Weed came out.

Now I'm doing it for the fun and concepts.  But that's what lit the fire under my writer's double-wide.  I wanted some positive, honorable and entertaining writings that'd please my "eye" for the plus-sized ladies, yet be something I could show my kids, sweetheart, or pastor.

And as joey7x said astutely, "if I didn't write it, then no one would."

Better or worse than average… hmmm. :-

    That's an extremely subjective term.

As far as below average physically, I have had Alysia's future nemesis Nissa start off slightly overweight, but no healthier or less healthy than the norm.  And when she got her
strength enhanced… well, it didn't do her moral compass any favors.

I'd also had Kitty-kins all beaten up at first when she first stumbled into Dr. Pughtick's compost pile in The Stray.

And going tangent-esque here… and probably spitting in the face of the dogma in these parts… I'm doin a story where the girl was slender and slight and (GASP!) perfectly happy that way.

And when she starts to grow beyond the average build, she doesn't like it much at all.  In fact, there's a chapter where she breaks down in hysterics over it.

It's Cheery Cherry.  Y'all might want to give it a peek.

But I think my fave example of physical power and size making one take a turn for the worst would have to be The Amulet of Strength by Morpheus.  I thought the comparison of two different subjects getting the same zap was very well done.

I don't know who said it, but someone said that one real, live person's life should have enough experiences for 6 characters in a book.  And while I'm no Indiana Jones, I have written and retold a lot of incidents from work, life at home (why do you think many of my writings are in Small Town, Southeast USA?), people I've met (pleasant or not), and even unpleasant experiences. (A German Shepherd attack when I was 3 inspired one combat moment in "The Stray," f'rinstance.)

Writing what you know makes the whole thing more realistic and accessible to the reader.

    Of course, the names of the people and places have been changed to protect the innocent.  But if Ma and Dad ever read my stuff… they're gonna automatically know who wrote it. ^^;;;;

To be honest, I don't see how writers can NOT let their world views filter through into their writings.  They'll show whether they're based on scriptures or just one's carnal desires.

Me, I'd like to think that my rep as the forum's resident goody-two-shoes is secure, and that anyone reading my stuff can tell my two big "philosophies" are (1) Love God With All Your Heart, Mind, Soul, And Strength, and (2) Love Your Neighbor As Yourself.

And I feel I as an author owe it to my readers to make sure they're lifted up, encouraged, and inspired to Do the Right Thing as well as entertained.

I've had varying degrees of subtlety.  Sometimes it's just my take of the Parable of the Men with Talents in Alysia and the Trial of Strength, or it's as blatant as Pastor Craig's message in For Their Own Good.

And on politics?  Well, issues were originally just story hooks inspired from reading Time and Newsweek.  But I think I inadvertently let my feelings show on the U.S. military's occupation of Iraq in FTOG:  it was the right thing to do, but what if America (and the world) were declared the rogue state, facing a bigger, stronger, higher-tech force with a moral beef?

That's my two jiao worth, anyhoo.

I've got to say… she was looking mighty impressive… mighty AND impressive, rather.

And that was before I saw her to-scale "Waiting" picture.  😮

Big question… do fan fictions count as product placement?  After all, Wonder Woman and Power Girl ARE trademarks of DC Comics.

Me, I'm guilty as charged.  Shoot, China Will Grow Larger pretty much showcases EA Games' Command & Conquer Generals:  Zero Hour.  And I threw in a mini-fridge with Coke as a bonus.

Also, The Stray plugs the rock band Consortium of Genius.

Dyna Meets M15+4 H4X0R shows Deena and Scott craving Krispy Kreme, and mentions TiVo and Krazy Glue.

Dyna: Mezaros Surfaces shows Powerade in the first sentence, and mentions Dr Pepper and Walt Disney/MGM Studios.

My Tetsuko fanfic Like a Weed?  Yeesh, it's got Waffle House, a Chevrolet pickup and police interceptor, music from the game Lunar Silver Star, Lever 2000 soap, Vans shoes, Krispy Kreme dougnuts and coffee, Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and Cokes. (And Staples, Oreos, Lane Bryant, Kool-Aid, and Microtel Inn get mentions.)

And my alien invasion story For Their Own Good: oy, gevald.  Dr Pepper T-shirt, Outback Steakhouse, iMac computers with Firefox browser, the Drudge Report, Weird Al Yankovic's music, a bunch of media companies I'm too lazy to list, Exxon, the London Times Online, Lexus, Hummer, Macaroni Grill, a Jeep Wrangler, Borders Bookstore, Wal-Mart, a GMC Yukon, a VW Microbus, and a New Zealand All-Blacks ball cap.

Mentions: AutoZone, Nabs crackers, Namco's Time Crisis 4, Buick, and Warner Bros.' Yosemite Sam and Fuzzy Lumpkins.

Wow.  Lately I'd added on a lot more brand names than I'd expected.  I guess it goes with writing what you know… and like.

I guess that's the key.  If you use it regularly, and mention it enough day-to-day without consciously being prompted or thinking about it, I guess it's fine.  It's more like living your life.

But there is a cut-off point.  I mean, if you're just foisting something out there strictly for the purpose of putting it in the reader's view in the name of shameless promotion… man, that's just crass.  😛
