ESPN stopped showing female bodybuilding competitions because the ratings were crap.  My guess is that ESPN2 stopped showing as much "fit chick" workout shows as it once did because it grew out of exploiting that ratings niche.  There are other, newer cable networks exploiting that niche, but their penetration rate is low in US households.

Also, please understand that in the early and mid-90s, ESPN2 was one of a small handful of media sources for those of us who like buff chicks.  As the internet began to mature as a medium for delivering images and video, the increasing number of choices crowded out some marginal providers.
