KeymasterI thought you Brits were all about the trains?
Also, you're not going to get much sympathy from us Americans, because we often have to travel hundreds of miles for fairly minor purposes. Our highways are good but every other option is shit:
- Airports are hellish since 9/11
- Passenger trains are not reliable and don't cover very much of the country, anyway
I generally don't fly unless I have to travel 500 miles or more; while it's cheap in dollars but expensive in human misery. Medium-distance (<400 miles) bus travel seems to be increasing in popularity in the U.S., though. Especially as concerns the so-called "Chinese buses".
Isn't there something called Frappr?
There's actually a Google Maps plugin I could set up here. Didn't think anyone would be interested.

KeymasterHate to break it to you, but SHIELD(who was largely responsible for the Superhuman Registration Act of Civil War) is not the US military.
In fact, the only thing the US Military was guilty of was following orders. And even then, SHIELD did about 99% of the Non-Iron Man dickery of Civil War.Um, it's clearly a U.S. Government sponsored military organization. And I agree with Dave – my comics buying and movie attendance have both declined since both media began producing so much anti-American propaganda. I've paid to see two movies this year – I used to taken in three or four a month.

KeymasterNegrita Jayde once called it the "hardened criminal" look. I think from her point of view, the reason to use weights is to become more attractive, but the goal of improving one's appearance is (obviously) defeated if the result is that you wind up looking like a troll. I agree, which is why I dislike steroids, growth hormones, and women's physique competitions that reward ridiculously low body fat percentages.
The attractiveness of women to most men is tied in with perception of fertility. A woman with 8% body fat is generally not capable of menstruating or gestating an embryo, and men know that instinctively. I find "contest shape" emaciation repellent, as I suspect most men (and women) do. Please note that fitness magazines almost never put "cut" women on the cover.
(Obviously many people would disagree, or at least pretend to disagree, with the proposition that lifting weights and similar pursuits necessarily have improved attractiveness as a primary goal.)
