KeymasterThey can stop me surfing but they can't stop me writing.
After all, it's what I do for a living.
A few passwords and clever file naming.
I even look like I'm working.
It makes me so mad.
Anyway, "Thursday" is nearly done. It should be up by the end of the month. Sooner if I'm lucky with time, inspiration and posting opportunties.
Hmm. You've never heard the phrase keylogging, I take it?
Bottom line, if you're using their hardware, they can monitor what you do. You need to be careful.

KeymasterBut hey… you should try websurfing whilst Great Walled in, like meself. There are some spots I CAN'T access from home OR work. (COUGH cough koffDCM'sblogkoff)
And Google kowtowing to the Local Powers That Be to bollix any searches for certain words? (COUGH cough koffhum4nr1gh+5koff koffd3m0cr4cykoff) Don't get me started. 😡
It's surprising to me that they haven't blocked Amaz0ns.

KeymasterI don't get the fascination with Morena Baccarin for this part. She's tiny and looks like a little girl. She doesn't have a majestic, goddess-like look to me, nor does she look amazonian. I've seen this argument in a lot of places online. Baccarin should not be Wonder Woman, I don't care how much she trains, she doesn't have the look to begin with. I'd like to see someone with a more mature look in this role. Unfotuately, it looks like Whedon wants to cast her. Hopefully, he'll buck the feeling and choose someone with more acting chops and a better look.
Well, Baccarin has a combination of childlike and worldly qualities, and would probably make for a decent Wonder Woman. The problem is that physically she is a waif. In Whedon's shoes I might cast Baccarin and then have her don a CGI motion capture rig so that a much brawnier personification could be generated on-screen.

KeymasterBased on traffic numbers this site ought to bring in several thousand dollars a month. At present it's bringing in less than $100 per month, but that's the result of changes to the site that we haven't "grown into" yet, specifically the new advertising programs. December was the peak, when a combination of factors (Christmas, mostly) resulted in ad revenue of about $350.

Keymaster(I was kidding about flashHeart being the only one to get the crack ads.)
The way it works with AdEngage is that you sign up for the service, and initially you just get "network" ads. Over time, as the site proves its traffic numbers, clicks, etc., specific advertisers will theoretically place ads on the site. AdBrite also works that way, though I am somewhat pessimistic about AdBrite's potential.
Blogads has no network ads, so only the ones that advertisers specifically pay for appear on the site. I've enabled Blogads throughout the site as of last week, which should make Amaz0ns one of the top 50 publishers at Blogads, showing about 160,000 "impressions" per week. Previously Blogads was only shown on the front page.
We've actually got a pretty good advertiser metric here, because the average visitor spends more than seven minutes at the site and our pageviews are about 160,000 per week. Somewhat mysteriously, I have never been able to get more than a tiny fraction of the ad revenue that other similarly-trafficked sites get. That's probably because the site is neither mainstream nor truly adult/NSFW.
I tend to decline the more explicit sex ads, as well as explicit banner ads, but the mainstream advertisers aren't comfortable with the core topic of Amaz0ns, regardless.

KeymasterActually, Flashheart, I checked and you're the only getting the crack addict ads. Hmmm.

KeymasterIt's a new episode of JLU. That's all that matters.
Pretty much. More often than not the show features at least one superlady putting the smackdown on someone. In fact the producers seem more confident with depicting violence by women rather than men.

KeymasterRemember when Erik Larsen was actually good? Wrong! It never happened!
LOL.

KeymasterMark, it may be better for you to use a Blackberry or similar wireless device for this kind of net access. I would not recommend accessing this site from work if you are under any kind of IT scrutiny whatsoever. (That goes for everybody.)
Here's what I do:
- I have a Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone that I can use as a telephone access line for my laptop.
- I have software running on my home PC that lets me use it as a relay, so I can use its DSL connection over the Bluetooth-phone bridge. That way I'm not using the corporate network. If you have AOL, you could just dial AOL using your Bluetooth phone.
There's also a way to access Amaz0ns using the small browser on many mobile devices, but I haven't really configured that yet.
