KeymasterI've followed Sjoberg on and off for about a decade, now. Sadly, his alt-text video series on Wired has been discontinued. I thought it was brilliant.

KeymasterI met Huston at the Arnold Expo in '08, and told her I run Amaz0ns. She seemed really flattered by the praise she's gotten here.

KeymasterWhat's a 'cencer'? Is it like 'cancer'?

KeymasterOK, it's back up. Lots of improvements to navigation. I still want to come up with a better way to search for authors, but you can search for users on the search results page.
BTW, it will be about two days before all the stories and content on the site are re-indexed for search. (There are close to 700 stories and the site is indexing about 20 per hour.)

KeymasterThat's one of the things I'll be changing.

KeymasterSpeaking of Michelangelo, if you're ever in Florence go check out the tomb of the Medicis- femuscle funerary monuments!
I remember getting a stiffie in art history class that day.

KeymasterWell, you guys have to realize that probably 95% of the people who visit this forum never set up an account. And 95% of the people who do set up an account either never post, or post fewer than ten times during their tenure.
I have a ton of ideas about what to do about the "lack of community", but it's a significant time commitment for me to do it. Also, it would involve work in Joomla, a platform I no longer have much interest in and haven't kept up with.
However, assuming I eventually get to it, the gist of what I want to do is get rid of the current forum architecture and replace it with Fireboard, which runs native under Joomla and thus consumes fewer system resources. Additionally, I would install Community Builder, so that each member would have his own profile page, with the option of posting images, blog entries, stories, possibly RSS feeds, etc, and even setting up Yahoo-style groups.
When I need testers I'll be sure to contact those who have posted on this thread. 🙂
