This whole thing is way overblown. Barbara Gordon was in like her late 20’s when the Killing Joke was written. When she was first introduced, she had a PhD. She was even a senator for a while.

It’s only recently that they’ve made her much younger. Her romantic relationship stuff wasn’t even added into the comics until the 2000’s. It was the cartoons that actually introduced most of it.

Even though the Batgirl story in the Killing Joke movie is poorly done, it’s kind of hilarious that fans are getting upset at Bruce Timm for messing up things that he was responsible for creating in the first place.
