phenomsParticipantSo it has Kevin Smith, there’s decent joking among buddies, I followed your link, watched episode one and won’t be watching episode two or onward.
It’s basically
PornPawn Stars only for comic memorabilia and with less educational value. And I already had a low opinion ofPornPawn Stars. In this genre, I’ll stick with Hollywood Treasures. I find the sci-fi and appraisal vetting interesting and they have gratuitous hotness thanks to Tracey McCall.

phenomsParticipantJust tried it now, had no problem when I uploaded the .jpg – didn’t ask for a log-on before proceeding.
When I first logged onto the site, I made certain the “Remember Me” box was check marked so I don’t have to log-on every time I go to Imageshack. Possibly, that might be your answer.
You are side stepping the key matter entirely. No login. That means no login ever, hence no registration, no checkbox to authorize a long term cookie. No username. No password. No disclosure of email or other information.
The advantage to the site and a preferential feature of it was the ability to NOT have yet another account to worry about. To simply go to the site url, browse to the file needing a host, upload, and share the link.
I thank you for the input AlexG, but it was a side step.

Charlie Rose interviews Niels Arden Oplev, director of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

phenomsParticipantAccording to a Charlie Rose interview with Noomi, she spent 7 months prep before the first film and she mentioned transforming herself including physically for the role. She also takes credit for defining the character.
Honestly the interview leaves me wondering if there is much any difference between Swedish Film and Hollywood Film cultures. Not that I watch any Charlie Rose, but I am disappointed that he did not attempt to probe past the self aggrandizing.
I want to find interviews with the director and producer and anyone else who can either confirm or dispute her statements. Somewhere in the grays will be truth.
As for lesbian culture, what gave you that idea. It just looked like typical youth counter-culture of the “I’m different just like everybody else” persuasion.
Finally, “pec-tits”? Really? Could you have coined a less appealing term?

phenomsParticipantOk, now I can’t be the only one that thinks she has absolutely the funniest name possible for a powerlifter.
Make like a tree and exit McWeeny! Deadlift that! YEAHUH! bueller…. bueller…..
Don’t ask me where that tangent came from. Free association back to ’80’s movies, Back to the Future’s McFly makes some sense, McFly, McWeeny… McLovin? Super Bad joking I know. But then where is the Ferris Bueller coming from? And what was Biff’s last name?
Shutting up now. This is what happens when I’m too tired to post something decent. Odd disorganized rambling.
Did I mention shutting up now?
McWeeny the powerlifter. Just wow. Heh.

phenomsParticipantI read three articles, none mentioned two years building the case.
Wikipedia mentioned “Rothken claims that the raid was unjustly swift and did not give his client the opportunity to defend himself”. That’s the impression I got. There was a link to an article at arstechnica posted on the first page of this thread that says it in the very last sentence of the article…
“This criminal case, more than two years in development, shows that law enforcement can take strong action to protect American intellectual property stolen through sites housed in the United States.”

phenomsParticipantDo you want to elaborate on “this has NOTHING to do with Sopa/Pipa”. Piracy has been around for decades, Megaupload just now got shut down. I am no math major, but I think its statistically unlikely.
I already addressed my thoughts on the timing in my first post on page 1 of this thread. The Megaupload investigation is about 2 years old. Sopa and Pipa are not 2 years old, they are far younger. The case is older and therefore cannot be a child of Sopa or Pipa. At best they are siblings with Piracy and laws like Digital Millennium Copyright Act as the “parents”
The timing does make sense. Megaupload has been around for 7 years. The investigation began about 2 years ago. There was likely an incubation period building up towards the launch of the investigation that lasted 6 months to a year. That would backdate things to Megaupload being around 3 years old. Three years old would have been enough time for the site to grow from an unknown fledgeling site into one of the larger if not already largest piracy sites around. Upon attaining size and notoriety, Megaupload would have become a target for legal authorities. Taking down the largest criminal organizations serves 2 purposes. As an example to discourage others, and as a swift way to remove the largest volume of illicit material at once.

phenomsParticipantIs its just me or anyone else noticed that same group of people who want to give terrorist due process wouldn’t give due process to Megaupload?
Have you not read any of the articles? They have been building the case for about 2 years. Despite the timing, this has NOTHING to do with Sopa/Pipa. Megaupload had servers in the US which provided jurisdiction. Megaupload was knowingly breaking the law for it’s 7 years in operation. What is it about spending 2 years gathering evidence, making proper arrests, and holding for trial does not qualify as due process to you? They have not even held the trial yet.

The trend is old news. SOPA and PIPA are among the latest additions to the trend. Now stop selling books referrer “sr_1_1″… busted! 😛

phenomsParticipantRegarding SOPA/PIPA, this action demonstrates that the government can act against copyright infringers without passing SOPA/PIPA.
That is a superb point.
In other words, SOPA and PIPA are like trying to set a curfew for 10pm – 6am so you don’t need to individually stop crimes during those hours and just blanket penalize everyone who broke curfew “just in case” they may have committed a crime… aka Martial Law. Ah, America! Land of the Free! Now get in that jail cell!!!
