Hey folks, still alive? I know I have been, but it has grown a bit quiet around this thread here, which caused some doubts rising inside me if people are actually interested in the project. Maybe I’m wrong. Just checking, though.
I made an attempt recently to spread awareness of this project on saradas.org, which resulted in a deleted post and a ban of my account. The people over there don’t like words like amaz0ns or brawna apparently. Still, I would appreciate if you could spread the word!
Thanks!

ParticipantFirst and foremost:
Merry Christmas to all of you! And, if we aren’t talking any more till then, have a happy new year as well!
Over the last weeks I’ve been tinkering around here and there and, even though thode things don’t matter as much at the current state, I would like to address them anyways.
1. Namegiving
I have been calling my project “Brawna 2.0” because of simplicity and the lack of imagination. And I guess once my project is complete, we would revert to plain “Brawna” simply because people know the name and what’s behind it. So unless Lingster suddenly pulls out a christmas surprise, I guess we will stick to it? Opinions? Ideas?2. Domain
So the original domain “brawna.org” still belongs to Lingster, I assume. And as long as noone can get in contact with him or something like this and get the domain from him, we will have to get a new one. I did some research and the brawna.net domain is available which I would aim for most likely. (Again, as long as we stick to the name) Others like .de are available as well but that would be a bit odd I guess. 😀3. Logo
I’m not the most creative guy on the planet and if someone would like to contribute and design a logo for the site, I’d highly appreciate it. 🙂 The more options we have, the better. And since I see this project as not just mine, but a community project, I would propably start a poll on which one to use.Talk to you soon and happy holidays!

ParticipantSo speaking as de facto admin for Amaz0ns, I can not overstate the importance of SPAM protection, both registration and regular checks of the users email addresses. This site has gone through periods where it’s slammed with bots and god knows what else hitting us multiple times in only a minute and its a big drag on the site. Comment policing can be a problem too, I know this might be hard to believe but people on the internet can be mean….no seriously…. Just be sure you know what you’re getting in to, it’s not all web site design and content, you also need to factor in maintenance and community management. So be sure when you’re ready to start it you at least have a couple people you can trust to handle things properly because while comments and members can cause problems anyone that’s been a member of any internet forum can tell you nothing kills a site faster then bad moderators.
Just something I haven’t seen anyone else mention yet.
Thanks for the wakeup-call.
At the current state of the project, I’m not as worried regarding spamming as there isn’t much of an importance on files and databases. I have backups. But the future security is indeed a concern of mine. And regarding peoples….’manners’ online, that’s no surprise to me either. We will see. I’m still fairly new to this but you learn from this stuff eventually and that’s what I’m looking for. Because this project is only means to a bigger one I want to attempt at some point. Although this doesn’t mean I’m not trying my best here. Overall, that’s why I would like people to try and test what I coded till now so we realize problems as early as possible.
At the moment, I have noone at hand that I know enough (and trust, as those go often hand in hand) to monitor Brawna 2.0 at a given point. And after all, this isn’t like a forum where you have to have your eyes everywhere. I don’t know how Brawna worked back in the days, but it seemed fairly fine to me. Because, after all, what much is there? Posting stories, searching for them, commenting and rating. That’s it. The only things that could come up in my mind are offensive stories or comments. And for them, I plan on adding a report system.Phoenix
ParticipantAwesome! Already registered.
Suggestion: The tags for activities and transformation should be done in ticks format in my opinion.
Most stories are bound to feature more than a few of those options at the same time.
Good luck with this and keep us posted please! Wohooo we got some registrations going on. Finally there is a feeling that something is about to become alive. The registrations will (most likely) only last until Brawna can be considered complete and then I’ll clear everything just for safety reasons. But as long as we are under development and addind new stuff, I’m VERY thankful for any help. That being said: You just gave me a “OMG, WHY DIDN’T I THINK ABOUT THIS?!” -moment. Never really came up to me to order the tags as ticks. For some, like activities, transformations this is a great idea! I’m unsure if we should offer this for all of them though. Languages obiously need only one selection and for the others, it’s mostly about pointing out the upper max the story will contain. Thanks nontheless! Opinions?
Spread the word! More updates are to be expected!

ParticipantStatus Update:
- Registration and Login scripts written and working. Although login does nothing so far but to check if user name and password match.
- Added an extra Page for the story tags which have been used on the original Brawna. Discussions about which other tags you guys would like can be made here on Amaz0ns or on the page directly.
Next steps:
- Making sure your browser remembers when you are logged in
- Story submission, including tags
- Search engine
- Fine tuning and creating a more pleasant look to the eye 😛

ParticipantDon’t have so many levels. While we love to play around with fine gradations, there’s really no need for them. If you think of the system as being similar to grading, it could be something along the lines of: 5- Outstanding! 4- Above Average 3- Average 2- Below Average 1- Poor.
Good point. Although when you think back to the 5 Star rating of brawna, you had .5 results as Average as well. So counting the .5 steps from .5 to 5, you would have 10 steps as well. But there’s more time to discuss the details. I like your critique points! Of course I would add a legend below or to the right where it’s listed what color means what. And clicking on the chart itself could link to a site where everything is explained in detail, just the way you have done it.
It would also be useful (to authors) if there were a small section for comments next to each section and a larger section for more general critiques below that, although that might be asking a bit much of reviewers.
So basically a commenting section below the story, the way it has been on the original. Yeah sure that shouldn’t be much of a problem.
If you’re looking for suggestions, part of Brawna was the allowance for not only FMG stories, but also stories involving power couples, as in MMG and FMG transformations, or GT and GTS transformations within the same story. Although of a niche interest, this is something that I strongly believe should be retained in any new archive setup.
Secondly, what about Transgenic w/ MG? I’ve written some of those in the past. (Think of Tigra w/ muscles, and you have somewhat of an idea of what I’m talking about.)
YES, YES, YES! Definatly.
While I, and propably most of us are here for the strong women, I had the thought as well to open Brawna more for other topics as well. I still would prefer that women have the leading power but if there pops up a story which includes MMG, I see no reason to decline it, as long as it doesn’t offend someone. I did talk to SSW on dA, if that’s a name to some of you guys. She writes superhero stories about her heroine. SSW on dA DeviantArt itself has a sizable fantasy author base as well which we could propably win for Brawna as well, since dA isn’t really made for reading. So if Brawna is working we could propably inherit a small fanbase. Who knows.I’m surprised you Brawna writers, especially stmercy, didn’t mention the complicated story submission system the site had. I guess you figured it out (because you had stories on Brawna) but I’ve communicated with a few writers who specifically shunned Brawna because of it.
So, my suggestion, Phoenix, is to make it simple to submit. Finally, the infamous Brawna CAPTCHA … do I need say any more?
😀 Yes, please say more.
No, seriously I have no idea what you are talking about. What made it so bad?
This, much like the registration on the old Brawna was a mystery for me. I never figured out how to create an account on Brawna, despite it having a login.
Well of course CAPTCHA’s are required nowadays, so we won’t get around of that. I have my own CAPTCHA generator set up already and it seems like it’s working. But of course if it causes problems, I wouldn’t hesitate to transition towards reCAPTCHA or something like this. Luckily there are services like this.I will agree that the CAPTCHA was one of the most awful that I’ve ever encountered, but I would prefer that to the zillion-and-one hardcore porn spam ads that, for example, yahoo groups seem to always be plagued with.
Well we won’t get around ads sooner or later. I’m currently having some free space where I can host Brawna 2.0 from as long as it’s in development. But once done, I would prefer a professional hoster as well as a domain. Who knows, maybe Lingster will hand us over the Brawna.org domain. But one way or an other, I would like to cover my expenses for hosting and the domain via ads for example. Of course an agreement could be made with disabling ads once the monthly expenses are covered. Via ads or donations….

ParticipantIdea for a new rating system: (input highly appreciated)
So you propably all remember the 5 Star rating system for stories on Brawna. So since 5 Stars don’t offer much of an in depth idea of what the story is about or how well it is writen, I had the idea of a more visual approach:
So basically multiple rating aspects on a scale from 0-10, calculating the average and according to that value the section would be filled out. I think this could give everyone that selects a story a good idea what to expect. Maybe about the author as well, who knows.
Opinions? Thoughts? What ratings would you like? Doesn’t have to be 6, could be more or less and different in color.

When talking about tags, I meant the categories. And I totally agree with you. I liked this feature and want to add more. Which also made me come up with the author-search. An idea noone else propably came up with 😛
It could even be possible to offer a language tag to stories. Brawna was like 99% english, I believe. But on Diana’s you still find the occational german, spanish,… story.
@fats
Yes, I’m aware that such a project is time consuming. And while I know that there are already solutions like Joomla available, I’ll try and get it done without them. After all I kinda want it to be a challenge for me. I don’t know how much in depth knowledge you have about PHP and SQL but, at least for the search engine I know how to figure them out. Since I would work with databases, I can simply send them a query and have it list me all stories which have the desired tags and/or author and return the results as links to the user.
Quite honestly, the thing that bothers me most is not the functionality, but the looks. I have no experience in webdesign 😆
@sdsj
Depends on what you imagine as stories with images. I personally quite like the idea of giving each story a picture like a book cover. Although if you imagine a whole series of pictures to go along with the story or the story even written on those images, propably not. I used Brawna quite often on my phone and since you want to scale the text to make reading more comfortable, images would propably get in the way, in my opinion. -
