ParticipantI'd broadly disagree with both you on the Millenium Dome. Tony Blair clearly saw it as part of his legacy… and the scale of the project was considerably increased by New Labour, of course when it all started to become obvious it was just a big sink of money, Tony and Mandy just tried to say it was something they'd been lumped with – which of course wasn't remotely true.
The real problem with British Rail was the WAY it was privatised… separating the tracks and trains was just idiocy.
But this has all gone horribly off-topic.

ParticipantHello Sarah – always nice to have new people around and as a rule, there can never be too many girls.
Seems like you've already settled in pretty well, so have fun.

ParticipantGiven the material he was working with, I think that was a pretty impressive result.

ParticipantThe Major government knew it was going to lose the election and decided to fuck Labour over. The way in which British Rail was privatised was a fucking disgrace.

ParticipantUm, it's clearly a U.S. Government sponsored military organization. And I agree with Dave – my comics buying and movie attendance have both declined since both media began producing so much anti-American propaganda. I've paid to see two movies this year – I used to taken in three or four a month.
Wait… I just realised. Would it be anti-American to say someone (a Canadian) was "pretending" to be American… but at the SAME TIME starting that criticism with a diatribe in Spanish?
Or would that just involve massive amounts of irony?

ParticipantWell, let's face it – getting around Britain isn't easy. Actually… North to South is easy, it's East to West that's harder and really if you don't have a car it's going to cost you a pretty penny to get to Londonium… of course, I've no real idea of the distribution of people in the forum who are in the UK.

ParticipantNo need to squabble – here is something beyond matters of opinion… wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SHIELD
The relevant text in the article seems to be the following
"Usually led by Nick Fury as executive director, this organization often operates as much as a covert agency as a quasi-military one, initially depicted as affiliated with the United States government. Later, S.H.I.E.L.D. was depicted as under the jurisdiction of the United Nations, with vast technological resources at its disposal, with U.N. General Assembly Resolutions and legislation passed in signatory nations aiding many of their operations."
And also:
"In the Ultimate Marvel universe, S.H.I.E.L.D. is controlled entirely by the United States. It maintains ties to a sister organization in Europe, the European Defense Initiative as well as the English operated S.T.R.I.K.E."
As to anti-Americanism… well, best left well enough alone.

ParticipantStrange you should mention storm – she's been coming to the FTF10 chatroom on the weekends. She's been on Trisha!

ParticipantWell, that's a great hat trick of ripped She-Hulk's you've got there Alex… I particularly like the last one. Always good to see some colour in She-Hulk's cheeks.

ParticipantGiven the fact the last one seemed to fall to pieces and even for people IN London, it would take hours to get there, it's hardly surprising that people are somewhat recalcitrant to spend the time and money that would be required to go and meet some strangers who may or may not be there.
