ReasonParticipant
You manipulate light and shade and create proportions in the figure that are aesthetically pleasing. If that's not an artist, what is? You just have a higher-level palette, that's all.
The only thing I think you need to work on is getting face to blend in better with the body. I think it's a lighting issue but I'm not sure.

Well, at least it wouldn't be if I controlled the universe. Come to think of it, if I controlled the universe, she would the smallest one there! It's a shame she didn't win, but any exposure female muscle gets in the mainstream has got to be a good thing! She seems like she could far whether she goes down the bodybuilding path or makes it into modelling, acting or whatever. Anyway, thanks a lot TMM for sorting through all those pictures and sharing them.
ReasonParticipant….and here is "Leonor Varela"…who ever she might be…..hope you like these
You've gotta be kidding me! Here I was checking to see if you posted a response to my comment and you've gone and done the bloomin' painting already! I really don't know what to say, it's just perfect. Thank you so much! I don't 'spose you've got any requests of your own, especially animation-wise?
ReasonParticipantAwesome work on both the Kulli drawing and the Starbuck morph, Pete! I like your whole "Why enhance existing muscles when I can just paint my own" approach. Have you ever thought about doing a full painting in Paint-Shop Pro like you do your morphs? Looks to me like you could do it easily.
Anyway, since this is a request thread, what about Leonor Varela. I always thought she would look good with muscles.
ReasonParticipantYeah, nice link Axel3.14!
For some reason people who morph on these boards are very protective of their techniques, so you probably won't get a step-by-step guide. To see what there is try searching for Liquify or Photoshop in this forum. To be fair, though there really isn't a definitive method anyway so your best bet is to jump in and get your hands dirty. You'll find it's not as hard as you think and people are much more likely to give up some info if you have a specific question.
To get started with Photoshop you could try a few head swap morphs. This basically involves cutting out a head from one picture, say a famous actress or model and pasting on a female bodybuilder's body. Magnetic lasso or magic wand tools are good for cutting out heads. You can also go all Frakenstein and cut and paste body parts from all over the place if you want to get more adventurous. Of course that might involve using the Hue/Satuation adjustment to even out the skin tone between the various parts.
You can then try applying the Liquify Filter on the body. To avoid morphing the background as well you should cut the body out and then paste the morphed version back on the origiinal picture. Morphing basically involves using the bloat or warp tools to distort the body to make the muscles larger. Start with photos of female bodybuilders first as they obviously have a lot more to work with. You can experiment with the brush size, density and pressure to get the effect that you want. Photoshop's online help should tell about all the different settings and what they do.
When you get really good you can post-process the morphed body by actually painting over it with the airbrush. You can add shading, shadows, veins, skin texture, ripping clothers, lighting effects or whatever.
Anyway, the bottom line is most people who do muscle image enhancements are self-taught, so now it's your turn.
Have fun and don't be afraid to post the results!
ReasonParticipantMan that was incredible! Could almost imagine hiding in the shadows of the basement watching it all happen. Bring on the next one, the more twisted the better! Any chance of adding a bit of good old fashioned sex and/or violence to the mix? And AbyssPlanet, if you've got 39 pages of this sort of stuff, bring that on too! If people want plot they can go and read a Michael Crighton novel or something.
ReasonParticipantIf you liked that then the finished animation is going to blow your mind!!!!!
A little bit like this:

ReasonParticipantThis is one of the best pictures I've seen from you. I really like interesting, non-showing off poses and your use of foreshortening is masterful. The break obviously did you good.
Fingers crossed that you or someone else will color it although it doesn't really need it. And yes those ears are growing on me.
ReasonParticipantYou are of course enitiled to your opinion, but I think that you're being a bit harsh. I just think some people are born with an inate negative outlook on life. Makes them tough on themselves and tough on the people around them. Probably this feeling of never being good enough is what drives him to be such a good artist. Don't forget it costs money and time to run a website and perhaps he felt that sometimes he didn't get enough gratitude. Anyway, I hope that Wreck's post was just an example of his dark sense of humour and not as serious as it sounds. If he's for real I hope that he finds someone to talk to help him move past this low point in his life.
