ParticipantThanks The_Pimp_NeonBlack and mikazuki for the kind words.
I actually didnt give red_silver much information about the character, I wanted him free to do his own vision of it. But he got it all right just by seeing my previous pic of her.
So he did set up the mood and style and all i had to do was following it with colors that complement all that bulging muscles. I could not prevent myself from blending some of my style into reds as you can see on her face and hands, but I think his refreshing style prevails after all.

ParticipantThe way you're putting it is making it sounds like learn art by self-taughting is a easy, common way to become a good artist. Sure practicing and dedication are the key to success but you shouldnt generalize things.
I think art school is worth it if you want to broaden your skills and (perhaps the most important) your horizons. After all, most art movements that influenced entire world came from art schools (academias). Its not fair 'saying' theres no good artists in art schools. And if are there fellow members of this forum who are art school students?
I dont know if the current comic artists dont go to art schools anymore. In fact, this is not relevant. Im just surprised the way Cho developed a comic style that emphasis classical escholastic notions such realism, lacked of cliches or exaggerations, without any academic influence.

ParticipantBrian Stelfreeze, Cully Hamner, Adam Hughes… virtually ever single one of the best comics professionals seems to be self-taught.
Not really. If you put aside your personal preferences, you'd realize that the majority of artists who break the mold (Im specifically speaking about comicbook industry) attended any kind of art school, like Neal Adams, Jean Giraud, Barry Windsor-Smith, Phillipe Drullliet and many more.
But this is not my point.
My point is: The dynamic, style and construction of Cho's drawing are so sleek and realistic that is hard to believe hes never stepped in a art school.

ParticipantI really, really, really like this character design. The lass is cute and her transformed self is way cool. I would love to see some kiddie anime use this concept, it could be a bit of a hulk satire, having her fight evil weirdos with nothing better to do than wreak havoc.
Thats a idea but I think red_silver already have defined plans for this character in his Muscle Peak. The only thing to do is wait and see. 😉
Seems more like a Tootie than a Trixie, but that's my Op-Ed…but hey, any more AP-combo characters out there is a good thing for me!
I understand what you meant but I just want to clarify: the characters ive mentioned above was examples of inspiration, not copying or anything.

ParticipantFrank Cho amazes me.
Hes a fantastic artist, to be sure, best known as the creator of the Liberty Meadows newspaper comic strip.
I think His specialty is drawing ladies that are pleasing to the eye.Frank says he have previously attended a nursing school.
As an artist he is self-taught. Do you believe it? -
