ParticipantThat is extremely good. Any clue who the artist is?

ParticipantIt's possible to view portions of my old site with the way back machine but there's a lot missing. Pretty much all the artwork, some of my short stories and a few random chapters of the Necklace all failed to be archived intact. I never understood what causes the wayback machine to grab most of a site and miss the rest, I don't think I've ever seen one perfectly archived.

ParticipantGreat to see you posting the classics again Mr. G.

ParticipantSince there seems to be a few who wouldn't mind reading (or rereading) The Necklace I'll repost it. I don't plan on posting directly to amaz0ns, rather I think I'm going to post it to my DA page. But never fear, I'll put links up here in the forum whenever a new chapter goes up. Though as I mentioned, I'm in the processing or retouching it so it will be a week or two before chapters start popping up.

ParticipantNot to toot my own horn or anything but my own story the Neclace had the main character get into many physical altercations with men, women and other creatures. It's not currently available anywhere on the web (long story behind that) but I plan on reposting it for those who missed it the first time around over eight years ago. If it sounds like what you're looking for then keep your eye out for it 😉

ParticipantI remember Cobra, I actually had the adventure game that came for the Sega CD way back when. It wasn't much of a game but the females in it were indeed very well drawn. Nice scans.

ParticipantHeck, I have respect for the artist and the editor who let him keep her looking that buff. Awesome.

ParticipantI would love to see it- I think I vaguely remember seeing it on ZZZ's GTS board, but I was never a regular there, so I don't remember it terribly well.
Truthfully, this site can feel pretty lonely if you aren't writing something typical- not that you are likely to get unfriendly comments; more like you are unlikely to get any response at all. If you are writing for the validation of your peers, this could be a major bummer for you.
This is in no way about validation from my peers. I've been going over the story for my own reasons and polishing some of the rough spots that always bothered me as well as rewriting a few of the earlier chapters (I had never intended the story to be that long when I first started it and the lack of direction shows in the earliest chapters). Since I'm reworking it anyway I was just curious to see whether or not anyone else would want to read (or reread) it.
The Necklace.
Hmm. Where have I seen that before. It could just be the title though. DtV has a story with that title. But, I'm not sure if it's the same one.
I'd love to read it. 😀
I've been aware of the story on DtV for years. It was written not long after I finished mine but the story is very different and I think it was only two or three parts long. I recently learned there was an overzealous fan who did an extensive rewrite of The Necklace (my version)in preperation for producing their own sequel (I had started one but never finished it). That one is similar to my own (since it has the same characters and mostly the same story) but their are some drastic differences which would push any sequel into a very different direction.
Hat tip to AlexG who managed to post even more info on the DtV version while I was still writing this. Thank old friend.

ParticipantI was on my way to college. I had some big paper for English I had to turn in and I didn't have a stapler at my apartment so I stopped by work on the way to class. I was standing at the front counter and stapling together my papers, shooting the shit with my co-workers when our mananger came out of his little office with this really weird look on his face and said "A plane just crashed into the World Trade Center." Fuck, how do you react to a statement like that? I laughed. I thought it was his idea of a stupid joke.
English class wasn't even a class. When I got there everyone was huddled around talking about the second plane that had hit. Someone had a radio and then a TV got dragged into the classroom. The most surreal part about it was the school photographer. The college had scheduled a photographer to go around taking candids of people for the yearbook that day and he was still gamely wandering around snapping pictures of students giving him glares or ignoring him to watch CNN. I remember weeks later having to sign a release for some pic he had taken of me when I apparently wasn't paying attention and the expression of anger shocked me. I still don't remember feeling angry that morning, just empty, but my eyes in that picture were so filled with anger.
I remember the drive home to check on my girlfriend after morning classes were over, the only planes in the empty sky being a small cluster of what I assumed to be military craft, so high up I really only saw the contrails. The contrails hung in the air and looked ominous long after the planes were gone.
I remember getting home and changing my shirt. I had been wearing one of my favorites and to this day I can't bring myself to wear it again. I have no rational reason not to, I just don't.
I remember. I will always remember.

ParticipantThat topic has been long debated on this very forum (two plus years I think), check out this thread over in the Fandom and Nerd Stuff section.
