ParticipantINTP, Architect. Interesting but I wonder how accurate it really is?

ParticipantPoor Kate, all alone in the FMG smokers wating room. She'll probably set fire to something if left unattended for to long. ::)

ParticipantSo far I can't say I'm a fan of the sidebar, hopefully future improvements will make its usefullness more apparent?

ParticipantIs this directed at me? ::)
Have I included a smoker? Yes. As some may or may not recall my character Kate (a main supporting character in the Necklace) smoked like a chimney. I had no real reason for having her do so, it was a direct offshoot of the personality she developed as I was writing her. She smoked cigarettes and she smoked them often and she did so not because I felt I had to offer a "token" smoker or because she needed a prop, it was just what she did. I'll never forget one of the last days I spent at college, not long after completing the necklace. I was leaving classes for the day and happened to see a girl from across the hall who was the exact spitting image of how I had always pictured Kate to be. Wavy red hair, bright green eyes, the same self confident smirk as she put an unlit cigarette between her lips when she still hadn't reached the exit yet, daring anyone to make her put it away. One of the weirdest feelings of deja vu (or however else you describe an event of that nature.) I've ever had and I never saw her again afterward.
Would I consider having another smoker? I honestly couldn't say. Having someone chain smoke would feel to much like trying recapture Kate in another form and there will only ever be one Kate Wyler. A pipe or a cigar? That would depend on the characters personality. If I can believably have a cigar smoker I will but I write the characters first and props develop from them, not the other way around.
Smokers probably appear very seldom in FMG type stories because fitness is an ideal that's exalted in them. But in the real world people smoke and even the most fitness conscious person likely has one friend who smokes.

ParticipantI honestly can't pinpoint where it started, it's been part of my psyche in one way or another as far back as I can remember. Incredible Hulk comic books maybe? I'm really not sure.
I do know a number of things that solidfied the attraction for me. When Robotech first aired in America the Zentradi were giants, including the women. I remember being dissapointed when one of them shrunk down to spy on the humans and never grew back.
The She Hulk comics and her early appearances on the old Hulk cartoon (or is this so obvious I shouldn't even bother mentioning it?)
One of my friends had an older sister who was very athletic. Right about the time I first really started paying attention to girls I saw her in a sleeveless blouse and realized that she actually had muscles. I had the worst crush on her for years afterward and a sleeveless shirt/tank top fetish that lasts to this day.
Then of course when I started working out seriously in high school and began buying magazines like Flex and Muscle and Fitness I was exposed to the world of competive female bodybuilding.
Ah, good times.

ParticipantThis would be the perfect spot to put a link to the 50 foot woman homage concert poster that Mitch Clem did for the band the Epoxies. However despite digging all the way through his blog (http://rainofbastards.livejournal.com) I couldn't find it. It was nice tribute to the original movie poster featuring the bands lead singer Roxy Epoxy.

ParticipantOn visiting his site, the tone of his introduction seemed arrogant and presumptuous.
One could argue that "borrowing" someone else's novel length work for their own ends is arrogant and presumptuous. He didn't even wait long enough for me to be declared legally dead >:(

ParticipantYea, I don't how resolved the issue actually is. After an exchange of emails he pulled down the links from his home page but the files were still up. A recent follow up reveals that the files are still there and indeed, the links have returned as well.
I'll be perfectly honest, this reimaging greatly pisses me off. I'd hate for anyone to think I had anything at all to do with this version of the story which showcases overdone prose in contrast to my fast paced action story, bizzare transformations, (ok this may be a matter of opinion on my part, I suppose some would argue that growing women are bizarre in their own right) nipples that pierce bulletproof glass (I wish I making that up) and horrible contradictions to the science behind the rings (though to be perfectly fair there's no way he could know that because it was never explained but that's not even really the point.)
As irked as I am regarding this I'll be satisfied as long as he doesn't post a sequel. The changes he made would move any sequel in a drasticaly different direction than I intended and now that he knows full well that I'm still lurking about and dissaprove; his "abandoned" story excuse won't cut it.
To be completely fair I did vanish from the internet for a period of about four years (personal reasons I'd rather not get into) and didn't resurface until just after he was already done reworking my story. If it hadn't been for digging deep into unread topics on Amaz0ns I wouldn't have discovered the plagirism at all even though it's been three years after the fact. I suppose I should be flattered that he thought so highly of it but I would have been far more flattered if he had just archived it untouched.
Yes, I'm fully aware that I'm ranting, it's a bit of a sore subject for me. *gets down off his soapbox.

ParticipantThese are the same sort who have no problem asking an author or artist for personally tailored works and will pester the hell out of them by email or IM in increasingly demanding tones until you block them. You're better off trying to sort out world peace than reason with them.

ParticipantI usually end up picking an avatar and sticking with it, I've had this one since I first joined the boards and other boards I belong to all end up the same way.
This avatar was one of the first pieces of art I ever scanned, pretty close to ten years ago and was part of a sketchy/anime style self portrait of myself that used to be on my old web site, "The Silent Zone." It just felt appropriate to revive the pic for use as my avatar here when I returned to the internet after a four year absence. In other words I'm a sucker for nostalgia and I'm lazy 😉
