Heh.  The guy who mentioned it to me was Canadian, actually- the saying has pretty much the same meaning, though.  The full saying is, "Liquor before beer, never fear.  Beer before liquor, never sicker."  It's a little silly, but it seems to be a pretty good rule of thumb.

I think I might have just read the comic in which Ann starts her misadventures in long-distance jumping when I wrote this, and it struck me funny…

I hadn't realized that kalida was stronger than average too O_o it may be that it's almost 3am in the morning and I am missing some important details. But I am enjoying the story too much, and I have nothing to do tomorrow morning, so I'll keep reading and catch the missed parts in a re-read tomorrow ^__^
