Strong enough that attempting to slap her- for therapeutic reasons or otherwise- is probably not one of the better ideas the good doctor ever had… >:)

This guy really likes to live dangerous! She just crushed his hand, he holds a file where all sort of terrible things stand about her and he attempts to slap her in the face. Not very bright for an educated man if you ask me!

Y'know, I had nearly the exact same thought…

Actually, my thought kind of ran along the lines of: Hm.  I have this file describing the ways this girl has brutally killed people with her bare hands.  Whether I believe it or not, I'm not about to allow myself to be alone in a room with her.  I want SWAT team backup, preferably with a sniper on the roof half-a-mile away and a big-@$$ gun…

I was ambivalent about this one- generally speaking, the actual degree of muscularity doesn't have a whole lot of impact on how well I like a woman.

On a purely visual level, I like a woman who looks comfortable in her skin.  Some bodybuilders manage that really well (Cindy Phillips, Melissa Dettwiler), others not so much.  Just, generally speaking, figure competitors always look happier to me…

As always, I weighs in late…

I hate to have to vote the way I did (Giantess wins IMHO) because I really prefer buff girl stories to giantesses, but, as pointed out by a number of the scientifically inclined, assuming the only variables you're actually dealing with are weight training (the buff girl) vs. increased mass/reach (the giantess), then the physics of the battle pretty much imply that the giantess can't lose.

Now there are a couple of things that could modify that.  First of all, anyone who spends a significant amount of time working out in the gym is going to have increased their pain tolerance fairly significantly- working out involves deliberately breaking down tissue so that your body can rebuild it stronger than before, after all, a process that involves at least a degree of pain.  Increased pain tolerance, endurance, and body awareness could, theoretically, all contribute to the buff girl's ability to stick it out longer in a fight and therefor win based on pure stamina.

On the other hand, it's pretty unrealistic to think that somebody who looks like Jodi Ann Paterson has never set foot inside a gym or done any resistance training…  It takes more than just diet to maintain that sort of figure, after all.

Oh, and about the whole center of gravity thing- that really only matters if buff girl can get close enough to apply leverage.  I had a match with a rassler who was about six inches shorter than me, the other day.  If I let him get close enough to hip toss me, it could get very dicey, especially since we both weighed in at around 200 pounds.  On the other hand, so long as I kept him at arms reach, used my legs to my advantage, I could deal with him quite effectively and there wasn't a whole heck of a lot he could do in return…

    Just my $0.02.

I like it, too.  I think what I really like about it is that it allows Sylph, who is a bit of a freak (and I mean that in a good way, but people look at her a little strangely whenever she goes out in public, y'know?) to show off, get some recognition, and be herself among 'normal' people.

I'll probably start working on that story as soon as I finish the one I'm gonna do for Rick…

Thanks for the kind words, again KeithXZ.  I've done some nonfiction writing, and I would have to agree it isn't the same as fiction writing- in many ways, it's harder.  I was getting a little bummed out about this project, for awhile, but I feel like I'm pretty much back on track.

I have some plans for Dicey & crew- part of what makes this story so much fun for me is trying to figure out how the assorted highly ambiguous characters are going to affect things.  I mean, if I pared things down to just heroes and villains, this story would be really easy.  Also, really, really short.  It's all those characters who are just trying to get by as the world slips sideways into unreality that make the story go…

Avoiding repetition has been one of my ongoing challenges.  I think part of the trouble I'm having is that I hate using the 'time passes' mechanism- it always seems like a cop-out.  Mind you, I've already done it, getting the story past the trial which struck me as a sort of foregone conclusion, but I was uncomfrotable with it.

Now my challenge is keeping the disparate events going at roughly the same speed.  For example, Dasia's disappearance actually occured after Berry, Drifter, and Nicole had their run-in with the sidhe, but the story structure dictated that I wrote about it first.  Someday, when I go back and attempt to redraft this story, I know a number of changes I will make.  Most of them have to do with timing of events…

Anyways, there's still quite a bit left to go…

Wow, I ramble.  I'll shut up now and sneak back under my rock to go back to writing…

Those are kinda fun!  I like the cartoonish quality.  Oh, and you don't need to feel nervous about having given away your secret ID.  We're all good folks, here.

(now, with any luck, he won't check his credit card balance for a few days…)

Cute story, and fun, as always.

I like the idea of trashing a big fat jerk's pickup truck or SUV, but (1) truly, that's just not Sylph, and (2) it's already been done.;-P

However, I remember something from my college days for charity or student organizations during our Homecoming weekend:  a CAR SMASH!

The idea:  a junkyard contributes an old beater that still looks decent on the outside.  Then the organization grabs a sledgehammer, pick axe, adz, some safety goggles, and a sign:  "BASH A CAR!  Three Swings for a Buck!"

Of course those are 1991 prices, but hey, set the price to what's reasonable.  Folks would come along, pay the cash, and demolish the thing one smack at a time.

What I've got percolating… the Student Org's Car Smash is going a bit slow since customers trashed the lights and windows… nothing to instantly wreck.  But Sylph, glad to be able to trash something for a GOOD reason, pays her cash, dons the goggles… but doesn't take a handled tool.  Instead… she simply uses her fist.  WHAM! One section of the car is devastated.

The Org's members is stunned… and deflated, seeing their gimmick is going to be over in two more swats, and all they got for it is a buck.  But the org's leader thinks very, VERY fast, and stops Sylph for just a minute or two, and tells the others to get something made of steel for her to wreck.  Then two others make a quick thermometer sign, and the org's leader grabs a megaphone and really pitches it:  "Sylph, Co-Ed of Steel, will demolish a car barehanded before your very eyes!"  And to show he's not joking, she crunches and demolishes a smaller but solid item, like a steel garbage can, or something that size.  But to get her to wreck the whole car, he's asking for contributions to help meet the org's goal.  Once they fill in enough for the thermometer card, she'll start pounding.

They make TRIPLE the amount they'd planned for.  Sylph crumples up the car for everyone's amazement and applause.  And Sylph gets a share of the proceeds for her time and demonstration.  And she has the deep thanks of the student organization and it's leader.

It's your story, of course.  But how's that strike you?

Checks with Sylph.  Sylph chortles and rubs her hands together…

Dude, I love it!  I'll cheerfully write it if you want me to, but your description is so vivid already, you could easily do it as a fanfic.

The information in there is certainly very interesting.  I've actually been going largely by the stats of various athletes (bodybuilders and others) when figuring the weights of my more physically fit characters, and operating from experience when dealing with characters of more 'average' stature.

What I'm primarily trying to figure out, however, is how much sudden weight loss a body can endure in what is, essentially, a crash diet over a length of two weeks.  I suppose a corollary question ought to be what the side effects would be for exceeding this level of weight loss…
