ParticipantSee, this is why I love this forum. I can ask totally screwball questions and nobody comes after me with the coat with really long sleeves.
Thanks, Pelhourinho.
The character in question spent two weeks tied to a chair. She was fed, but not much- probably just enough to keep her metabolic function going. I was trying to figure out how much she could safely lose so that I could then figure how much more she might have lost without actually dieing…
Essentially what's happened is that a chubby girl was kidnapped and held for two weeks before the heroine of the story rescued her. Now I have to figure out how unhealthy she's become…

Participantseconded! Happy birthday to ftf10 and Prophet!
And now, the happy birthday dirge:
Happy Birthday (thump!)
Happy Birthday (thump!)
One more year has passed away
One year closer to your grave
Happy Birthday (thump!)Sorry- just a little old-guy geezer humor…

ParticipantHm. Well, it's kind of not the right tone for Sylph as I see her. Not that she wouldn't be capable, but her world just doesn't have that dark a flavor to it. It might be something I'd do in a story set outside the current continuum. I'll have to think about it…

ParticipantI'll confess it did throw me for a moment, but I think what really got me was the scale- it looks like Ms. Knightley's face is about two sizes too large, thus making the superbly developed body underneath it look almost childlike by comparison.
Still, if this was your first attempt, it's outstanding- and lightyears (I'd say lighteons, but I don't know if that's a valid measure) ahead of anything I can do.

ParticipantI know, I know- I'm ages overdue weighing in on this one, but…
First, and most important- Them's some great pix of a really cute mouse.
Second:
Damn, I knew it, but I didn't know how to write it ^^' I used logic instead of dictionary and here we go -,-'
I grew up on good, old Polish fables, like… erm… like good old Polish fables. You, americans, try to learn proper Polish in four years, I'm dying to see it CheesyYou'll have to wait for us Americans to learn proper English, first… ;D

ParticipantWell, not intentionally ;)- have you got any idea how much those things cost? And this was supposed to be a fund-raiser… ;D

ParticipantI am loving this story.
I like the way the Eugenians have decided to deal with our dangerous and warlike species before we become a threat to the entire galaxy- it's a theme that's been explored before, occasionally, but it never gets old when it's treated with such respect.
I also like the way the humans don't all just turn into slavering war-crazy monsters, nor do they roll over and lap at the Eugenians' collective feet. There's a real sense that they are real people trying hard to deal with an untenable situation.
A fine read. 🙂

ParticipantAh yes, artics can prove a problem with jacknifing. (Artic = articulated lorry = limey equivalent of a semi).
Fun to watch, though- I don't think I've ever seen one jackknife vertically! 😉

ParticipantOK, I'll admit that at first I was totally prejudiced about this book (my name is Trista irl). I googled myself and found it, so I just had to read it. I have to say, that I'm totally hooked. Signed up here and everything just because of it, although I'm interested in the forum so far otherwise.
I feel like I need to do the Darth Vader wheeze: "Join us, Lykere, join the dark side!" 😉
Seriously, welcome to amaz0ns. I'm glad you're enjoying my little story. ;D
More up later tonight, God willing and the crik don't rise.
