ParticipantMy full intentions? No- I don't think we know each other that well, thank you very much. I will point out, however, that I have never received any compensation for any of the stories I've posted- and I have written them according to the specifications of a number of different people, not all of which really did anything for me. I've written to experiment with different styles, to attempt to make something pleasing for someone that asked for it, and to see if I could trigger a response with something a little different. What about you? What have you written and why?

ParticipantAllow me to take a moment to be irritated at your crass and insensitive attitude. Clearly I'm not writing for YOUR pleasure, and just as obviously I intend to enjoy my writing, but what makes you think that you have the SLIGHTEST knowledge of my full intentions. That's arrogance to the nth degree.

ParticipantI would add, however, that it is probably unrealistic to expect it if the response from the average commenter is to, essentially, say that your desires are irrelevant and that you should go crawl under a rock or live in a cave. Or, to put it differently, you're absolutely right- it IS unrealistic to expect a better diversity UNLESS people demand it- and reward it when it happens.

ParticipantSorry, not-the-herbert, but I have to disagree with you, at least in part. While I agree that it is unrealistic to expect there to be NO graphic porn paticularly in the FMG/GTS genre, I don't think it's really unrealistic to ask for stories to be a little more finely crafted. Diversity is really the key- yes, some of the stories you read are all about the heaving and the sweating, not all of them have to be- and if you take a look at some of the material that's been around for quite a while, not all of it is.
Take a look at JimmyDimples's work. Look at some of the older Lingster stuff. Heck, look at Scoundrel's work. The variety of sexualized situations certainly exists, but it isn't always expressed in visceral, feel the throbbing members, taste the salt detail. Sex can be as graphic or as subtle as the author feels is appropriate for the story.
I, personally, am kind of a prude (or at least, that's what all my friends tell me), so I don't tend to write in all the nitty-gritty. That said, some stories have more than others (I know of a number of people who read the Sylph stories as 'fap' stories- very strange), particularly in my short stories, because I'm less concerned with a plot driven narrative in them than I am in a story with 20,000+ words.
The main problem, if it IS a problem, is that there seems to be a real decline in well-written stories of a less (note I don't day non-) sexualized nature. There's simply not a whole lot out there you could safely read at, say, work or around your kids, or even at home with your partner unless your partner is extremely open, and that's kind of a shame. Once again- just my opinion on the matter. I'm nothing if not equivocal.

ParticipantI think the answer to that is pretty obvious… the vast majority of users are pretty inexperienced. Writers, whether experienced or not, tend to want to write for the people who are most likely to comment (and, preferably, comment favorably) on what they've written. Ergo, the stories cater to the audience that is most vocal- the loud-mouthed virginal fetishist crowd.
The other thing to remember is that it tends to be the younger set that actually has time to write these stories and do the art in question. I know I, personally, have a whole bunch of projects on hold simply because life has been too crazy this semester for me to get anything finished. I'm hoping that summer will prove more productive, but a lot of artists don't have even that amount of free, unstructured time available to them.
Nothing particularly profound; just my two bits.

ParticipantAnd in case you were interested, that central hole at the base of the neck is the manubrium.
Point of interest, actually- the bone underlying that hole is the manubrium. That hole is the suprasternal notch, which I've incorrectly called the subclavicle notch ever since being introduced to it as a control point in martial arts training.
Interesting uses of trig… I knew there was a reason to study it in high school. 😀

ParticipantNo disrespect… but I absolutely challenge you to find me ONE mainstream female in either Marvel of DC comics that has large "comic book" muscles as you say, other than the antagonist Titania from Doctor Doom's minions of Secret Wars.
Because it offends me to see such pathetically muscled characters as She Hulk when strength is their PRIMARY super-power.
Sorry. TC2 is correct- I was referring to the ludicrously large musculature of superhuman males with super-strength, most of whom never work out with weights. More to the point, most of whom could not work out with weights because of the inadequacy of resistance training equipment for their levels of strength.
The fact that She-Hulk is almost ALWAYS undermuscled does not particularly offend me; what offends me is that her cousin, who got his strength from the same source, has grown muscles while she has not. Equity would be a nice switch, although I don't see it as likely.
Similarly, if women don't gain huge muscles from gaining super-strength, I see no reason that males ought to. The fact that they do can really only be attributed to the artists' and audiences' biases.
As to mainstream femuscular characters, there aren't really any that go beyond fitness-level athleticism, with the exception of the She-Hulk in a couple different (and short-lived) incarnations. Wonder Woman has (rarely) been portrayed in her regular series as having respectable biceps and, occasionally, even quads, but it's pretty unusual.
Typically, the thing that comic-book women are least unlikely to have is some decent definition in their abs, possibly decent delts (needed to support the bionic chests they all seem to have?), and (shock!) great glutes.
Which is all really just a long-winded way of saying that I concede the point…

ParticipantNothing wrong with the phones themselves; I'm laughing at people who can't figure out the correct care and feeding of the buggers without a how-to manual…

ParticipantOh my lord- that's frackin' hysterical. Ther are people who actually need this stuff? I suppose that the bit about how to dial if you have no actual spinny-thing could be useful- if you happen to be a total loser…
