The Muffin man
ParticipantI’ve been nice and kind and quiet. But you know what Jim? You’re really annoying me.
Cram it. Alright? Shut up. Stop talking. Nobody really cares. You’ve pretty much pushed more of us AWAY by your refusal to do anything BUT talk about your site and how you think you can change the world. Put it in your sig and post normally or get out. This is NOT your own personal billboard.
I have rarely seen a post where you did not find some way to weasel in your site. Stop it.
Now I’m not a mod or an admin, but ask anyone. I’m not a confrontational person. And I really like posting here. I don’t want people like you leeching off the bandwidth for your own good. I don’t want Shegrew to go down and YOUR site still leeches hits elsewhere because your interest has faded in a site that has an inexplicable tolerance for your (pardon my french, KissTheManiac) bullshit.
I’ve run out of patience and I think you should leave before the other members decide to stop being patient with you.

I’d figure the marines would be LESS strict about it, not MORE strict. My sister had to gain weight to get into the air force, but was told "if you’re overweight but it’s not fat, you’ll still get in."I’m not sure why you’d think that, the Marines are the strictest and most hard-core š They’d never be less strict than the Air Force, either š
Like I said, it’s about discipline and ease of mobility (muscular people tend to not be very flexible as many muscular people don’t do things like yoga to keep them flexible), as well as considering your fellow Marines…no one wants to be weighed down carrying the 300 pound guy if he gets shot…and they won’t care that the 300 pounds is pure muscle ;)[/quote]
well I meant more 5 pounds over weight with muscle. I don’t imagine 5lbs of muscle weighs more than 5lbs of fat.
First person to say "Muscle is heavier" fails at logic š
The Muffin man
ParticipantSNOTLING and MUFFINMAN (and anyone else interested): It’s weight. It’s just weight, pure and simple. They will not tape me, they will not check my body fat. It is simply weight. Some people think it’s stupid, but think about it. Let’s say I’m 700 pounds of pure muscle. 5% body fat. I can carry a bunch of wounded without a problem. But if I’m hit, who can carry me?
I also think it’s good for discipline. Losing weight takes a lot of work and being strict with yourself. Also, giving up MUSCLE is actually a big thing, too. That you’re willing to part with something you worked so hard to get shows dedication.

The Muffin man
ParticipantActually if the majority of the weight is muscle you can pretty much tell them it’s muscle and I don’t think they’d care.
The Muffin man
ParticipantI…don’t think you’re allowed to do this.

Participantb]KISS[/b]: Yeah, I wasnāt just blowing smoke š You know, maybe Iāll ādoodleā those requests. I want to draw, but I donāt have the time and patience to really sit down and do it like I used to, so maybe Iāll just do sketches.
DEBIDO: Thatās okay, I donāt want the Army anyway.
As for why Iām going into the Marines, maybe itāll ease your displeasure about the war. Regardless of the reasons we went in, which are yet to be proven either way, we owe it to the people of Iraq to rebuild after we bombed the hell outta them. Iām going in as a combat engineer so I can help with that. Iāll be fixing our vehicles, sure, but Iāll also be detonating mines and doing some work on existing Iraqi buildings. Iām very excited to help them out.
And, despite what the media blows out of proportion, we ARE doing good there. Remember the Oklahoma City Bombing? The guy that bombed the building was an American, but we still didnāt like what he did. Itās the same with most Iraqis. They donāt like the insurgents the same way we donāt like American terrorists and criminals. The insurgents kill other Iraqis. You know the beheadings we saw on the media that were on Al Jazeera? Donāt think itās just foreignersā¦they behead their fellow Iraqis as well. Weāre training Iraqi cadets in police academies, and itās working. There was an insurgency uprising in Baghdad a couple weeks ago that was taken down by the Iraqi cops. Did you know Saddam stockpiled munitions in schools (as well as the open desert)? We cleared them out, and now kids can go to school. We brought the schools power, weāre fixing a lot of things over there that were messed up before we ever set foot in that country (or plane in their airspace). 30% of the Iraqiā¦uhā¦Iām not sure what the word is but itās like a congressā¦is made up of women. Good luck finding that in pre-war Iraqi. People are actually holding protests now, and while theyāre being stopped by the police the Iraqi-elected Iraqi officials know itās wrong and are trying to fix that. You think anyone protested during Saddamās regime? It was you asking to be killed if you did that. A Marine came back from Iraq and said he met two men that really touched him. The first he bought a painting from. He was pleased to paint because Saddam had told him he couldnāt paint anymore. Another man hugged the Marine, and with tears in his eyes explained that his brother had been killed for wanting to vote, and he was so happy that he finally was able to do so.
Some people say āWeāre giving them AMERICAN rules and AMERICAN democracy, thatās not right, we should stop!ā and I disagree. I agree that the Iraqi people should work democracy out for themselves and not have us telling them the way to do it (for example, I heard that theyāre taking to democracy so fast that weāve asked them to slow down with their procedures), but at the same time, we shouldnāt LEAVE. We think of these people as a separate, weird culture that absolutely will NOT take to democracy because theyāve got their own agenda and will refuse ours. The thing is, democracy is āfor the people, by the peopleā which means that they have certain freedoms. And really, what person doesnāt want freedom as a basic right? You canāt tell me that just because they live in a different area and a different culture that they LIKE being killed if they donāt like the government, or that they LIKE being stifled whenever they want to change a policy.
Oh, and to let you know, once Iām out of basic I can get as big as I want. š
as much as I’d love to agree, we’ve got no aim at the moment. Until we finally settle down and say "Ok, NOW what do we do?" we’re just throwing money and lives at this.
