ParticipantIn that story, the main character is a man who inherits from his aunt a magic disc which will grand him three wishes, all of which he uses to try and improve his life and that of his wife, who keeps complaining about him.
Wish Number One: He wishes to be wealthy, and when the wish comes true, he finds that he is now living with his wife and his dog Barry in a mansion in Beverley Hills. She, however, scolds him for doing nothing to help her.
Wish Number Two: He wishes that his wife was more attractive, and she is transformed into a beautiful blonde who castigates him for spending too much time with Barry and not enough time with her.
Wish Number Three: He wishes that his wife was more life Barry, and all of a sudden, Barry – who has been transformed into a standard poodle – disappears and merges with Prudence, the man’s wife, transforming her into the big, muscular “Poodle Pru” of the picture. Now fanatically loyal to the man, Prudence jumps up and down demanding to be taken for a walk; in the process, she smashes the now spent wishing disk and leaves the man in very big trouble.

ParticipantI can recall several commercials featuring women that perform feats of strength, and the first one of these is a TAB commercial from the mid-eighties where a housewife drinks a can of TAB and then lifts a table off the floor with one hand to vacuum underneath it, then lifts her husband off the floor when he comes home for the evening. It was wonderfully done and ended with the woman lifting their son, who was narrating the commercial, over her head.
The second was a McDonald’s commercial advertising their Olympic shake and showed another woman, a blonde, drinking the shake in question and dreaming that she is competing in the weightlifting event. In the dream, she raises a fairly good-sized barbell over her head, wins the gold medal, and awakens back at the McDonald’s where she was having the shake. This commercial was created to promote the 1984 Olympic games and was never again aired after that. There was even an additional scene added later on to promote a contest that shows the woman tearing the door off an older type refrigerator similar to the one the three of us used at that time. Whoever wrote this commercial must have been psychic because women’s Olympic weight lifting was not added to the games until the late 2000s.

ParticipantWhat I don’t understand is why issue 7 came out on the 14th instead of the end of the month, as usual.

ParticipantFrom one of my science fiction magazines, l learned that the Black Widow is to be exposed to gamma radiation and become the She-Hulk. If this is true, then this is really big news.

ParticipantOf course, I realize that Sally is only supposed to be ten years old – I’ve known that for over thirty years now! I also have no desire to create an Encyclopedia Brown fan film.
