ParticipantI like the style and the linework. The smirk on her face gives her a bit of personality. The flow that the lines give to her hair and the tails of her sash are very nicely done.
Critique:
The linework is a bit light in spots, particularly around the left side of her face. This makes the face break up a bit too much. The cheekbone, in particular, deserves a strong and solid line to make it stand out.
The legs are short enough to distract from the overall picture, I would lengthen them a bit, and space them farther apart to create a sense of power and confidence.
I would make the lines that form the neck stand out more, and perhaps make her neck a bit longer. She seems to have her head slightly hunched, and it may be simply an illusion caused by the linework.
There does not seem to be an overall consistency to the way the lines are used to create boundaries and imply depth. For instance, the outer edge of her left arm is thick and solid from her shoulder all the way down to her knuckles, which gives an impression of a stronger light source on her right. But the lines that form the sash and her legs on that side are more in the style of the rest of the drawing, using a slightly broken-up look. The contrast it creates is a bit awkward. The viewer notices her left arm, but probably isn't sure why.

ParticipantHigh turnout is overrated – brings out too many people who don't have any grasp of the issues.
This would be cause for concern if there was a choice of more than just two candidates, to be honest. The two-party system is fairly entrenched here, in both local and national political offices. I think this country has developed both a government and a society that works remarkably well, all things considered. But the way we have things set up doesn't entirely favor the informed voter.

ParticipantI'm more concerned with the idea that she advises working out in 80 degree heat, which sounds dangerous. Sweating a lot doesn't mean you're losing weight, it just means you're losing water. Not only do you gain that weight back as soon as you drink water to rehydrate yourself, it's not really healthy to dehydrate yourself during a workout. You're already going to sweat if you are working out. And Paltrow suggests that if she didn't exercise so hard, she'd weight 300 lbs, which is highly doubtful given her genetics.
People will do some pretty unhealthy things in order to promote healthier living. ???

ParticipantI remember these, never thought I would find you here or the other place. Even once found a website of yours.
I found this place purely by accident, and am glad I did so. I recognized your user name when I saw it but couldn't remember which artwork was yours until I saw your sketches at E.J.'s site. I always enjoyed your work, good clean linework with sharp contrasts usually works for me.
This is a sequence that I'd done to give an idea for how I worked my way through a drawing, and it's still the way I work today. Non-photo blue pencils, then ink the outlines, then fill in the details. I need to do more action shots, one reason I stopped drawing as much was that I'd hit a wall and was mostly just drawing the same poses over and over.

ParticipantPowergirl Original By Joe Pekar
This is my favorite, I just love the cartoony look when it's done this well. Good linework and proportions and just a great expression on her face.

ParticipantCan I wait in turn behind Mimi for a chance of a snog with Melissa? ;D 😉
Based on her photo that she posted in another topic, standing in line behind Mimi should provide an excellent view while you wait. 🙂

ParticipantNice legs, yeah. Nice music, too! I get the feeling that I'm gonna have that one playing in my head for a day or two. 🙂

ParticipantJust the appearance of the art, the faces particularly. There are a number that show the influence of Hughes, but more of them remind me of Dodson. The faces do, anyway. Dodson's faces tend to be more polished than those drawn by Hughes. Then again, I always assumed that Dodson was a Hughes fan as well. So maybe there's a common trait amongst talented artists who admire Adam Hughes. 😉

ParticipantI'm enjoying this thread immensely (pun intended!). I've always loved your work, Fett. Though you strike me as more of a Terry Dodson fan than Adam Hughes. 🙂

ParticipantThis is around the corner from where I work, though I doubt I'll have time to attend. I'll have to keep this convention in mind for next year. I don't think I've been to a comic con since… 1995? Gads that makes me feel a bit old. o.O
