Folks who know the White Wolf system are welcome to use the eek! version. Folks who don’t know it or don’t want to use it can do whatever else they’d prefer. What matters is how much you tell me about your character, not what language you say it in :-).

Danae will do splendidly. I’m mildly curious why she was held back from her pilgrimage for two extra years despite being more skilled than her age-peers, but that’s not a problem; I’m just curious.

stmercy, thanks for the clarification. I’m still waiting to hear from other prospective players, if there are any left.

Oops, forgot to add this: no hurry here, good luck with real life :-).

Bah, my computer ate my post.  Second try.  These are exactly the questions I was trying to poll you (the players) about :-).  I don't get a vote about power level (if I did it would be "high").  StMercy has already expressed a preference for "normal human".  If people are reluctant to post their preferences publicly, maybe everyone could PM me?  ("My preference is X but I'd be happy with any level between W and Z.")  Whatever the outcome, I will tailor the challenges to fit.

Setting-wise, you get no source material whatsoever :-).  Since no one has given me a better idea, the campaign hook will be that your characters, individual traveling adventurers, all happen to have arrived in Major Trade City (I'll come up with names later) and have signed on with an expedition into the Big Desert to locate and explore a buried ancient ruin.  I'll make up details on the fly and you are encouraged to do the same in your characters' backgrounds.

What else do you feel you need to know?

Any D&D is fine.  (Don't feel restricted to D&D's box, though.)  White Wolf is fine.  I personally like Mutants & Masterminds (2E), but that's less common.

Re: Amazon content.  Sex will be strictly optional ("amazonness" is about power, not sex, at least as I use the term); I'm okay with an R rating but not X.  I was assuming that all of the PCs would be female, but I'm reluctant to mandate that.  If your character is female you can choose whether to be amazonian from the outset or whether I should arrange for growth in your near future.

Re: power level.  I personally find low-level play a bit dull (especially in D&D), but I don't get a vote.  My system is flexible enough to accommodate a relatively wide range of power levels; my default plan was to let everyone submit what they want and negotiate regression to the mean if necessary.  (Superwoman would not fly, pun intended.)  If you all would rather reach a consensus in advance, that's fine too.  Opinions?

I veto dark :-).  I should have mentioned that up front, sorry.

My lazy idea, unless someone suggests something better, is to allow a variety of characters by declaring that all y'all are mercenaries/adventurers who just happen to sign on to the same job.  Hijinks will ensue.  Each of you can then assume whatever home culture you need for your character and I'll put it somewhere on the map.

Regarding rules: since lefred's system isn't ready for primetime, we'll use mine, which is very simple.  I'll accept characters written in any system I can make heads or tails of, or no system at all.  I'll start writing up an explanation of how outcomes are determined in play–hint: it occasionally involves regular polyhedra or emulations thereof–but in the meantime you can start building your characters any way you like.

    Questions?

Okay, three's a crowd :-).  I see one vote for high fantasy and two no-preferences, so it looks like high fantasy, though I'm happy to include elements of other genres if folks want.  Sex will be strictly optional.

I'm not up for a chat-based game at this time, for two reasons: one, my schedule isn't simple enough; two, winging it is my weak suit as a GM, so the slower pace of email is a better fit for me.

Anyone who wants to contribute elements to the setting or story is encouraged to speak up; what you all don't create I will, but I'm lazy and would much rather you do my work for me :-).  What would you like to be a part of the game?
