Some of you know how tightly music plays a role in my artistic process, and no clearer is the connection made than in this image (reduced res of November's desktop). This piece of art was directly inspired by this clip of 'Thorn's Pass' ( http://www.kameosoundtrack.com/MP3s/Thornspass.mp3 ) While it's more Chimera than elf, I think a few of Y'la's fans might be interested in seeing a little bit more of her than usual (even if it IS a tad small). I don't think elves are supposed to be that built, are they? 🙂

I like the music. I need to get the soundtrack. That one song gave me some ideas for my story.November 17, 2005 at 6:40 am #17736Dr.OttoParticipantWell, technically she's a Grey elf, since none of the usual AD&D standards exist in the PCC universe. :p
There's about another ten clips of music at that site, by the way. I ordered the CD as soon as it was available.

I was just making a point of saying that there is more than one kind of elf. Besides, does it really matter? The picture is great, no matter what kind of elf we are talking about.

How you manage to capture such energy with so few lines and colors is something I will simply never figure out. Great music too. And yes, I will pony up the cash for the entire desktop collection just as soon as I can resolve a few other issues.
Bravo!
Buddy.November 17, 2005 at 8:59 am #17739Dr.OttoParticipantI have no doubt in my mind that it wouldn't have been anywhere near as good without the music as the backdrop against which to create.
November 17, 2005 at 11:21 am #17740VicParticipantVery nice Doc!! As for the elf, it all depends on where you get your legend from. D&D's Dark Sun elves were very tall (7'+), Lord of the Ring's elves are human normal size. If you look at historical legends they are more Fairy or Pixey sized. All of which boils down to you have a lot of leeway in how an elf looks. By the way, yours is awesome, don't change her.

She can't be a drow: drow have white hair. 😀 But a grey elf seems fine…
If she is the PCC Donation Desktop of this month, I can't wait to get my new credit card… And by the way how would you describe the creature mixing Cornelius, Fortis and Sophos??? A cerberus-chimaera? 😛November 18, 2005 at 3:12 am #17742Muscle Growth NutParticipantDoc, it's just briliant. Epic, powerful and compelling. Buddy.I'm far from eloquent, so I'll just say, "What he said." Damn good work, Chris. Damn good.
