I’m just curious, am I alone in noticing a surge in places offering immediate payment options these days? It seems like every app, online store, and even some brick-and-mortar shops are pushing “instant pay” or “express checkout” buttons. I mean, I get it, it’s convenient, but sometimes I miss the days when things took a little longer. I recently came across a good breakdown of payment industry shifts, and it made me realize this is probably part of a much bigger trend toward faster, more personalized, and more seamless transactions. Am I just getting old and resistant to change, or is anyone else feeling this shift too? It’s definitely a different world than even just a few years ago!

Speaking of instant payments, it does bring up a valid point about impulse control and budgeting. When purchases are made too effortlessly, it can be easy to lose track of spending. I wonder if there might be a resurgence in more mindful budgeting approaches to counteract this trend. It’s something the older generation seemed to handle better maybe?
