ParticipantActually, I'm a little surprised no one has mentioned this one yet…
I read a good story over at Diana the Valkyrie site a few days ago called Year Zero by Helplesscase. In my opinion, a very well done slow growth story.
http://www.thevalkyrie.com/stories/1misc20/yearzero.txt
The story is ultimately told from several different perspectives, and follows the growth of several women over a period of what could be weeks or months. I like how he divides up the chapters into short-story-like sequences, while continuing to advance each story line. The descriptions are not too over the top to be unbelievable, which I greatly approve of. The women in the story also seem to each be at differnt stages of growth at any given moment, so there are ongoing descriptions of each woman moving up to the 'next level' of muscularity.
The growth takes place gradually, so there is really no sudden 'hulking out', which some readers may miss. There is also an adult-treated-as-child story line that is not one of my particular favorites (but is still well written…)
All in all, two thumbs way up! I can't wait to hear about Year One after this!

ParticipantYeah – it reads well, though I'm not quite sure I like the perspective jumping that much (Wait-a-minnit, who's beating up her husband, I thought she was the one who was working in the lab, no wait thats so and so . . .)
but the writing itself in good and the interleaving seems to be pulling the stories together as a whole, so I think it'll come out well.

ParticipantAh, something new to read! I've always liked Helplesscase. I'm glad he's written another story.

ParticipantI should add a question. Does anyone know how to get in touch with Helplesscase? I asked Diana to pass on a message, but only received from her the suggestion that I post a note on her Writers bulletin board. I've never seen Helplesscase post there, so I doubt he reads it.
Any suggestions? Or does he read this board?

ParticipantI tried to contact him a long time ago to congratulate him for the Superfemme Chronicles story, but wasn't very successful either.
About this new story of his…
I really liked it too. Helplesscase has a way of making his stories both realistic and surreal at the same time. It makes us frustrated with the slightly exagerated characters (overly-domineering females and overly-wimpy males)
and absurd social scenarios (curfue for males, basic loss of rights, etc…), but still writes it in a way that makes it seem plausible, which is why they're so disturbing. Not to mention exciting.I look forward for the next chapters (assuming there will be a Year: One, Year:Two , etc…).
Btw, Mark. Will this story inspire you to write "Thursday"? * keeping my fingers crossed *

ParticipantI've been doing most of my writing for the Superwomenmania workshops. "The Pick-up" was the latest, and I have another story nearly ready for the next competition, which is on the topic of "using a weapon against an ubergirl".
BUT, I have not abandoned "Pendant Changes" and still work on it, bit by bit. It just won't be ready anytime soon, I'm afraid.
I've finished Yearzero. The last few scenes go pretty far. I'm not sure how many more "years" he'll be able to take it. Also, I'm not terribly into the infantilization or feminization themes, but the growth and transformation are very well done, and I agree, he makes it sound very realistic and natural. This is the same thing I strive for in my stories and it's probably why I like his so much.

ParticipantYeah, by and large I'm not into emasculization (SP?) – I would prefer the women be perfectly capable of dominating and seducing men at the top of their form – . However I can live with it in otherwise good writing, which is fortunate as most of my favorite writers do prefer some variant of shrinking, infantilism, or feminization.
Just one more of those sad things I'll have to live with till my eventual control of absolute power – .
