I definitely fit the normal, yet strong type. I can lift my own weight, carry a guy around for 15 minutes without losing my stride and I can haul a 150 lbs washing machine down a three storey building with a friend. (Damn things are too bulky for proper carrying)
Since I wrestled in school and fought my way through several little problems along the way, I learned that the lean guys tend to get bashed while the fat always floats, so well, I wouldn't try to show off my muscles and instead keep them covered.
Let's say, most watchers wouldn't guess. On the stat side: 6'1", ~144lbs, huge feet/short legs (I can crouch lower than most guys my size)I hope this answers your questions.
July 30, 2005 at 9:14 am #8824The Muffin manParticipantI think the funniest thing about this thread is that I asked you guys to use a certain group of words to describe yourselves and next to none of you used them. 😀 That just made me laugh for some reason.
One interesting thing is that most of you are not buff. Only one of you answered that he actually body builds and looks strong (one of you isn’t muscular but is strong, and another only looks muscular after lifting). This begs the question: if muscles look so good, you admire people that take care of their bodies, and muscles are sexy, then why do most of you not have them or even strive to have them?
Well, you're straight. But you don't have a penis. Why do they have to have something to like it?
Kulli – You're like 5'5 or so right? XD Nah you're not 250 hun. Nowhere near.
July 30, 2005 at 9:57 am #8825AnonymousGuestKULLI: 2.2 pounds = 1kg
RICK and MUFFIN: Rick, you can't physically grow breasts (which are feminine so you would not want to compromise your sexuality I take it) and Muffin, I can't physically grow a penis (which is masculine, so I wouldn't want to compromise my sexuality). Muscles are genderless and achievable. Your examples don't fit here.
And Rick, I do understand your explination below the breasts comment. I just didn't think that breasts applied here because they are unnatural for your body (although some have made the argument that muscles are unnatural…I disagree with them, though).
And Muffin, she very well could be 250. Maybe she carries it all in her lower body (I've only seen pics of her face).
ALEX: I'm not your lady and it wasn't that much amusement.
RISTARD: "You have to admit that working out is a very selfish endevour. It is you putting yourself ahead of everything else in your life for a finite amount of time." No, I don't agree. I just had my friends lose their father to a heart attack, and it hurts them every day. They want to get fit so they "don't do that to [their] kids." So, no, when you are a father it's all the more reason to stay fit, so you can be there for your daughters. Do you know how scared I was when my father got a quadruple bypass?
But reading the rest of your post, you say you work out, so this probably doesn't apply. Just for anyone who thinks that they don't deserve to make time for working out, that's what this is for.
YATES: My supervisor works two jobs, one behind a desk and one as a landlord. What possessed you to do that. He complains about how much he hates it, and it seems like it's a time sink for you, especially with a fiance. Does your 50 hour a week job pay you THAT poorly? I mean, it's admirable to have two jobs, but wouldn't it be better to try and find a better paying one?
RATLAF: Using your body type to your advantage…I like that. I'm still wondering what my body type is. I hope and pray to God (I really do) that I can gain muscle like my brother, uncle, and father. I'd rather gain bulk than be cut, honestly. I want to be huge, I don't care if my genes tell me to look Samoan if I'm huge (and they very well might, I'm part Chamorro). I'm just worried that I might actually be built like you. I mean, don't get me wrong, I really admire the incredible endurance that people like you have, it's just not something I see for me.
Well, I guess I answered my comment about "you guys like muscle but most of you don't have it," eh?
DRAVEN: I guess I wonder why it might be hard for some people to work out because I work out 30 minutes a day. I'm at work, on my lunch break, and I still have time for lunch. I guess not everyone can do that. I just wish so much that everyone could. I don't understand why people don't at the office, though. They keep saying "You look so good, I should start exercising," and I tell them how and the time and they still don't do it. They have access to everything I do, but they just don't do it. It's really too bad.
EVERYONE:
You guys are leaving lots of comments and I am detecting some animosity from some of you…did I hit a nerve or anything? I'm not judging you, I'm not assuming things about you, I'm just asking questions because I'm not a dude and I'm not in your position so I'm curious. Another reason I ask is that every time I login, my Karma rating has dropped another point, so either one guy is doing it or some of you got mad at me for (probably) this post. I don't care about my Karma rating, I just don't want to hear that I pissed some of you off. If I did, I'm sorry, and please don't assume that I'm judging you because I'm asking questions.July 30, 2005 at 11:03 am #8826TC2ParticipantI haven't paid attention to the beginning of this thread so you know, I don't know what the heck you guys were talking about earlier so I'm just going to answer the question and move on with my life here.
I am skinny but not yet muscular, I get up around 7 in the morning to ride my bike in order to get some cardio into my work out. I would like to start building some muscle definition preferrably the abdomen and the biceps because "my girl" who I talk to says she likes a guy with a nice abdomen and a great butt.
Okay no pressure!
Also since I'm going to be persuing a movie career I think it'd be better to do the "Bond" type roles if I had some muscle definition rather than chubbiness or love handle which I luckily do not have yet. Though I would like to be muscular for my own personal health, I think also sculpting the body for her own personal physical preference comes with an added bonus that I really don't mind working for.
And that's all I have to say about that, simple question right?
P.S.
Berry what the heck happened to wearing your ovaries on the outside? If you've pissed anyone off then uh, you've pissed them off. The end and move on to some other discussion, I mean c'mon unless you were being offensive which from glazing these posts I highly doubt you have anything to worry about.

Good luck with the career, you are right that you will probably get more roles if you have a muscular physique.
As for wearing my ovaries on the outside, that does not mean that I want to come off as a dick all the damn time. If I say something and am telling the truth and I know the truth will hurt, then I will come off as a dick and I don't care because the truth must be said.
And, because I believe the truth must be said, I spoke the truth: I am not trying to offend anyone.
To me, I was wearing my ovaries on the outside. Anyone can just be a dick, but it takes real balls or ovaries to apologize to people for possibly upsetting them, even if you didn't mean it. I am telling the truth: I did not mean to offend anyone. Wearing my ovaries on the outside means that I'm not afraid to tell the truth, not that I'm not afraid to be a dick. Does that make sense? I'm not one to take back what I said (unless I realize later I was wrong in saying it or saying it out of anger, but that doesn't apply here), but there's no reason not to clarify my point if I get the feeling people misinterpreted me.
To recap: wearing ovaries on the outside = telling the truth even if people get offended. It does not mean I try to offend people or act like a dick just to act like a dick. If I think someone's art looks good and no one else does, wearing my ovaries on the outside means not acting like a douche and wussing out because no one else is saying anything…I'll tell the person I like their art. And if everyone else likes it, too, I'll tell them still because it's the truth and needs to be said. Honesty is a big thing for me. I've said somewhere (not here, I don't think) that I'd rather be known as honest than nice. Sometimes honesty is nice, sometimes honesty is harsh…just don't think I'm not being honest just because I'm being nice.
Again, good luck with the movie career. It takes a lot of balls to go for that because you know that there's a really good chance you won't make it. A lot of people can't take that kind of rejection or the lack of a secure future, so good for you.
And good luck with pleasing your girl with your physical appearance, but I'm sure she likes you for you so don't fret 🙂
I also appreciate you sticking with the theme of the thread.
July 30, 2005 at 12:50 pm #8828TC2ParticipantAnd good luck with pleasing your girl with your physical appearance, but I'm sure she likes you for you so don't fret 🙂
I'm sure she does too, I'm just adding bonus points for the lady because I think she deserves it. I'm also one of those type of guys who dislikes being a hypocrite, my thoughts have always been. If I want my girlfriend or some such to be muscular, then by all means I better hold up to my end of the deal and also strive for a healthy body as well. I mean it's not exactly fair (in my opinion) to let the other do all the work and not have anything to contribute on your end of the relationship. So if my lady decided she wanted to be muscular, well then I will go to the gym with her and be muscular as well so we can BOTH be pleasing to the eyes.
As for the whole acting career stuff, thanks for the support. Luckily I am already working in the TV business and have my mug on television in my local area as a news anchor. I've also already completed a "mini" movie where I play the role of Hitman in a small independent project of my making that I really only need to show people who would be interested in hiring me. Been rejected a few times back in high school, but now I'm one of the most recommended guys to work with so things are looking sharp so far.
As for the whole ovaries on the outside debacle, you lost me after the first uttering of the word dick. But don't worry I do understand what you said in that the main purpose for you is to be honest whether people like it or not. You don't do it for the sake of irritating people, you only do it because it's what you honestly feel and came to your head. Simple really, I'm the same way except when I choose to "honestly" speak my mind I will word my sentences carefully so as to get the point across yet at the same time not be offensive, all this without sacrificing the honesty part.
Either way my opinion still stands, I don't think you've honestly offended anyone and if they do get offended it could have been one of those geniuses sending private IM's. Not to mention you've already stated that you honestly don't mean to offend anybody so… I highly doubt you should be fretting over the "tone" of some posts, after all we've all got better things to do with our time.

Pardon me, I stand corrected (bowing) – 'tis only being polite and well mannered, no offense was intended. 😎

On a related topic, in the past I've seen similar, shall we say, hostility, on the part of many men towards those few women that post in the news groups (AAWA) or FBBr fandom forums. To be blunt, its one thing to be femuscular eye-candy, but once you start demonstrating that you got a personality with some real brains to go with the body you suddenly become a threat to their fantasy.

However, things have degraded some since I no longer have coaches routinely prodding me to run and do weight training. My work keeps me active so I'd have to say — normal.

I do not doubt anyone's personal assesment or experience, but, for what it is worth — my fantasy heroines are never just generously proportioned towers of well hewn sinew and muscle. As demonstrated in my stories, my preference (fantasy or otherwise) is for women to have intelligence and personality.
Tschuss!

July 30, 2005 at 7:29 pm #8831LuParticipantDamn internet, I had a good post going there >_< well here we go again XD
I have noticed that when people tend to say 'no offence', the person on the recieving end has already been ofended.
Like someone called me an attention whore, and then said no offence? It kind of defeats the object.
Though I see what you mean, the truth can hurt, but honestly I think it's the person's own fault for letting themselves be deluded.Muffin? Honestly, I am ^^; but as I said it's not all fat. o.O
And Straub, I look like this http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/3684/megardensml2jd.jpg
And on the subject of braun vs. brains, maybe that's why people like the She-Hulk? XD
But seriously some of the things that people say…. it's like… they think someone can't be ripped AND articulate…July 30, 2005 at 9:32 pm #8832David C. MatthewsParticipantI'll have everyone on this board know that I possess a physique like unto a god's!
Of course, that god is Buddha, but still…

Intelligence and personality do not threaten my fantasies, they fulfill them (along with the muscularity). Like Hunter, I try to imbue my characters with the aforementioned attributes, although I'm probably not as successful at it as he is (I know I'm not as successful as I'd like to be.)
