I'd mainly been a fan of She-Hulk for a long time because, well, lots of artists (…but generally not the actual comic book artists) and fans liked to draw her as more muscular than your average female, and obviously I tend to like that sort of thing.
However, glancing through random She-Hulk comics at the comic shop, the art didn't depict her as muscular and/or defined as I'd like, so I never actually forked out the cash to buy any of them.

This all changed last week.

I was at the local secondhand-store the other day, and they had the super-oversized issue from a year or so back (the one where She-Hulk is put on trial by the Time Police or some such for screwing with continuity) for $1. I figured, "Hey, for a buck, I'll give it a shot"
I picked it up, and while there were only about 4 or 5 pages where she was actually muscular (and REALLY muscular, and it was awesome) and not just "big", the comic was actually really goddamn hilarious.

So yesterday, I was at the comic shop, and they had a bunch of She-Hulk trade paperbacks. I asked the guys who work there if the series was worth getting, and they said "Hell yes! The She-Hulk series is hilarious!"
I picked up the first trade paperback, and they were right – this series is really funny, and I find that that totally makes up for the artwork not entirely being to my tastes. I'm looking forward to picking up the other 3 trade paperbacks.

But hey, to make up for the not-so-muscular artwork in the She-Hulk comics, I picked up the pretty damn muscular She-Hulk Marvel Selects action figure. She's currently standing next to my really buffed up Power Girl figure

Just a suggestion, but you might also want to acquire those issues that involved her with the Fantastic Four title back in the mid-80's (starting with #265 she replaced The Thing for about 3 yrs after the Secret Wars I miniseries) – considered by most to have her best storylines.

The other one, for pure Gammazonian FBBr uberbuffed-up-ed-ness which is availible in TPB, would The Avengers: The Search for the She-Hulk.

Okay, thanks for the tips. Is the comedy factor still there? That's really what I'm enjoying the most from the current stuff I'm reading. In fact, I'm a little over halfway through that first trade paperback, and I'm loving it. It's really funny stuff.

There's also the Essential Savage She-Hulk which collects a bunch of the old issues as well. I might check that out, too.

Yes, it's really  dissapointing to see so many views and so few posts.

Regarding the SH title. Slott is the only one that has written her book is that line. The "Search for She-Hulk" story line, is another Avengers story with amazing art.

Some issues from her sensational days do have some nice renditions, and many of her guest appearences do have some interesting style.

Regarding the story itself, like I stated before, Slott is the only one to write her that way. Sadly, his plotlines have started to fall down since all the StarFox saga (precisely after that 100th issue you got). I'm a big fan of the first 12 issues run that SLott wrote, but now, I feel that between the art that it's not too thrilling and the fact that Marvel decided to put her in the pro-registration side, her stories are falling down. At least for me.

Even so, i'll wait to see what happens in this new "World Wothout Hulk" saga.

Hm, alright, thanks for the info. That's the impression I sort of got from the comic book shop guys, who mentioned that she was getting pulled into the whole "Marvel Civil War" thing, and that the comedy factor of her title was probably going to go down a bit.
At the least, I know I'll get the 3 trade-paperbacks I don't own, but I guess I'll be a bit wary of picking up any others that come along.

Eh, 200 views and 3 replies is pretty good… by my reckoning 0.1% participation is about average. There's little point in lamenting it.

Anyway – I dislike the goofy Slott.. it does little for me. He's shown he can do a great job with more serious stories though.

I think Slott is doing an over-all solid work – and I for one am ready for the downsizing of the hilarity factor – but the art has been… not very exciting. It seems like Marvel went out of their way to downplay any cheesecake overtones, choosing a "quirky" artist like Bobillo to launch the title, and having him followed by a string of very pedestrian artists (Will Conrad being the one exception).
I agree that her FF run was the best of her career, definetly the most fun read till Slott. Slott did more to develope her as a rounded character, but the FF years are where you want to go to, first. I know I fell in love with her then (issue 275 certainly played a part…), and they are the reason why John Byrne will probably beat the odds and end up in Heaven.
