this series started last week, and one of the characters (liz) looks pretty buff sometimes. the series looks promising.
November 10, 2005 at 1:22 am #17264gblock01ParticipantThere is a reason for that, though few might guess it. The episode that they showed on Toonami is not really the first episode. A few years back (I can't remember exactly how long ago), Toonami did a special showing of this show while it was being developed. I believe that, when they changed it, they went with a few scenes that were already drawn. The character of Liz was nicknamed "she-hulk" by the main character (I can't remember his name). She is (or at least was) a martial arts expert and worked out continuously. She was pretty buff, but, of course, Toonami severely downplayed her muscularity so that it would appeal to a greater number of people. By the way, this was aired when Toonami was still on weekday afternoons. This was, I think, Toonami's second or third incarnation. Right now, it is either on it's fourth or fifth (I think fifth).
November 10, 2005 at 7:20 am #17265Matthew SichermanParticipantI remember the original IGPX. The original concept was straight gladiator games. Now it's more a race with super-fast combat mecha. I think I like the new concept better. Oh, and keep an eye out for the all-girl Team Skylark. Haven't seen much of them yet, but who knows, if we're lucky, they might do some butt-kicking outside of their mecha
November 10, 2005 at 7:31 am #17266gblock01ParticipantI doubt it, but you never know. I don't know if anyone has noticed, but this version of IGPX is designed more like the F-Zero video games, than anything else. There are really only two major differences: 1) the racers are a team instead of an individual, and 2) the machines are different. The rest, though, is remarkably similar. Up to, and including, the fact that the teams are trying to run their oppoents off the course as well as place first. Oh! And the fact that anything goes while on the track. The only rule for cheating is to do it quickly.
November 11, 2005 at 8:36 pm #17267BlackKusanagiParticipantSo… where can clips of the original be found?
November 11, 2005 at 8:53 pm #17268gblock01ParticipantSomewhere in the recesses of the Internet. I honestly have no idea. As far as I know, no one ever ripped clips of the show of of Toonami. Unfortunately, if you do a search on IGPX, you will most likely end up with the current incarnation instead of the original.
November 11, 2005 at 10:22 pm #17269The Muffin manParticipantSearch for IGPX and Mini-sode or something like that.
November 12, 2005 at 11:27 am #17270AnonymousGuestThanks to the power of Google, I found a site that has apparently all the episodes, intros, and endings.

December 8, 2005 at 4:30 am #17271Dr.OttoParticipantI'm pretty amazed at how Liz is portrayed on this show. usually a character with her type of looks would be typecast in the tomboy mold, but instead she comes across as being a thoughtful, introspective girl, albeit a bit stubborn.

Sweet! Never had the chance to see the original eps, kept missing them. That and I didn't really care all that much. 😐 Will give that a look soon though.
