I was looking for informations about Medusa. As I was a little kid I bought a comic (I guess it was a spidey) where this beautiful amazon was pictured. She had those great long red hair and could use them as a weapon. Unfortunately It's hard to find informations about her on the Web. I just found a picture or two and found out that she first appeared in a Fantastic Four comic during the sixties.
Does anybody have more informations about this superheroïne ?
Here's a drawing I did a few weeks ago, it's a personal rendering of Medusa, I've just added text to illustrate this topic.
Thank you in advance.

I might add, Eddie the moderator of the She-Hulk forum (http://members2.boardhost.com/SheHulk/) is a major fan of her and her sister Crystal (married to Quicksilver – and their daugher's name is Luna).

She is an Inhuman who first appeared in the Kirby/Lee years of the Fantastic Four The inhumans are a race of powerful, yet seemingly inept super-humans created eons ago by the aliens known as the Kree who created them by using the 'Terrigen Mists'. These mists have unpredictable effects on humans, usually giving them powers and making them pretty ugly too. Somehow despite high technology, and super-powers the inhumans got there asses handed to them by normal cavemen and went into hiding. ALso, they say human polution harms them, but I say they are so embarrased to be beaten by cavemen they just need an excuse to hide their faces.
During a mission away from their hiding place the great refuge, she crashed and became a amnesiac French criminal who joined the Wizard's Frightful Four. Her crimes eventually attracted the attention of Black Bolt, King of the Inhumans and her betrothed. Black Bolt, like Superman has so many powers, the writers often forget which he has, except one. His voice is so loud a whisper coulld shatter a city. He and FF and Medusa find each other, lots of inhuman hi-jinks ensue, stuff happens, She gets her memeory back and marries Blackbolt. She takes Sue's place on the FF briefly. The inhumans leave the Earth, to live on the Blue Area on the moon (which has air), but in gratitude to the FF, provide free babysitting for Franklin.

Only one question about that Medusa pic…
Which is stronger, her biceps or her hairdo? 😉

Looks like there are some specialists in "comics culture" here, which is actually great.August 19, 2005 at 3:35 am #11535Harry BraffParticipantOnly one question about that Medusa pic…

Well, let's bet on the hair, and consider that her (somewhat muscular :-D) body is only for the fun.
August 23, 2005 at 9:08 am #11536DavidParticipantI've thought for a while that characters like Medusa and the Invisible Girl should be a lot more muscular than they've been portrayed. Think about this. Sue Storm regularly sends out battering pulses or lifts objects with her forcefields that are anchored at her head. Unless she's anchoring the pulse elsewhere it's gonna tear her head off. The same with Medusa who has torn open safes and lifted cars with her long lovely locks.
