There is a LOT of animated goodness coming up tomorrow night (aka July 12th, 2008) if you love superheroes, action, and general pummeling, scheming, and a certain lawyer's transformation.

At 9 p.m. EST tomorrow, the Direct-To-DVD movie Superman: Doomsday airs on Cartoon Network's Toonami block. It is animated, but despite Timm-esque designs the movie is only loosely connected to the DCAU. It is also violent, it was rated PG-13. Of course, if you're a Supes fan, the storyline being adapted here should be no surprise. It is NOT being repeated, so tape or DVR it if you're not going to be around.

Then at 10:30, right after Doomsday ends at CN, you get your cherry on top on Toon Disney: the Incredible Hulk episode "Doomed". No descriptions here are necessary as we've all seen what has transpired in that episode by now, but for some reason you haven't, watch it. You won't be disappointed at the results: Hulk smashing, She-Hulk smashing, some superb characterization for Banner and Jen Walters, and a really great scheme from Dr. Doom. Truly a classic episode, with a truly classic transformation sequence for She-Hulk (as well as a couple of really detailed ones for Banner/Hulk as well).

    Thanks for reading.

Doomsday was pretty disappointing for me… I mean, ok – we all know that as these storylines go, you have to make concessions because with animation you're paying for everything that happens onscreen… but really, I felt like they spent an age building up to things and then rushed it through and totally pissed all over the actual story. It's ok but… yeah, not that great.

Doomed – I think everyone worth their salt will have seen it a dozen times… I still find it hilarious that they'll toss hulk out at Banner like they're going out of fashion but She-Hulk gets one and one only (well, excluding Down Memory Lane – which is hardly worth mentioning).

Ditto about Doomsday, I say Bring back JLA!

I thought Doomsday was pretty good on DVD, but when it premiered on cable, they took the good stuff off!

(One more post to my 200th!)
