    That's a cool pic. I'm looking forward to this. I'm managing to avoid all spoilers and I saw Quinto as Spock (he looks perfect). I'm hoping it's gonna be good.

    I'd just wish they'd stop insisting this film is gonna be IN CANON. I think it could work very well on its own, like James Bond. No one confuses Sean Connery's Bond as being in the same continuity as Roger Moore's or Danny Craig. But making it "canon" annoys me. Gene Roddenberry is long dead, but I'm tired of this "we can do this better with kewl effects" bullshit.

    Oh come on, you know you're looking forward to the big musical number!!

    I agree with you in all seriousness though. I'm hoping the film concentrates more on the character's and the relationships like the ones that were shown in the original series more then all sorts of CGI thrown in for little reason. Dynamic character interaction in the series dropped off substantially during Berman's deathgrip on the franchise.

    Gotta admit the franchise reboot (and that's what is should be called a reboot not a canon prequel) I saw from Joe Straczynski appealed to me more then this J.J. Abrams thing.

    I believe Pike may be the lead instead of Kirk for this one, at least that's what the current articles I've read have stated.

    From what I've read, Spock maybe the main character.

    One unofficial/rumor synopsis I read on either DarkHorizons.com or someplace was that some Romulans slip into another timeline, or alternate dimension, to try to kill a young Kirk. The Nimoy "Spock" finds this out and follows them, enlisting the Zachary Quinto "young Spock" to stop them.

    Using the alternate reality Star Trek universe I guess would allow them to play around with the much vaunted, mythical "Canon".

    BTW, I'm with the the other posters, the Trekkies need to get over themselves and quit demanding everything be canon.  They're as much to blame for the damage to the franchise as Brannon & Braga are.

    I dun wanna see it, I dun wanna see it…! Simon Pegg as Scotty!! WTF! Seriously, I mean it! only a third of the crew choices makes 'sense' and that's iffy, but Simon…Pegg…as Scotty… :(( no no its wrong I tell you unless the movie is a spoof!
