Strangely enough, I have read on one site (real feats of strength) many FBBs and Figure competitors saying that the worst people in terms of adverse reactions towards their muscularity are their fellow women, especially those who are overweight or out-of-shape.
That doesn't really surprise me- depresses me a little, yes, but doesn't shock me at all. I think with men you get primarily a genuine (if exaggerated) response of no attraction. Society has told people it's okay to denigrate muscular women becuase it's not average or normal, and some men who aren't attracted to strength feel that it's okay to turn around and be insulting about it.
Women, on the other hand, I suspect (over)react more often from envy and jealousy than revulsion. Because they know that they aren't at that level of physical fitness, and it would take a great deal of work (which they might or might not actually be capable of), they react both negatively and vocally, 😛

I must confess, having read feminist writings that mentioned the concept of a sisterhood, it came as a surprise to me. I'd also read of occasions where the reaction was precisely the opposite; for example, in the description of Builtmore's "Gravity Girl" DVD, the babe in question, Rose, carries the guy effortlessly in a piggyback, and a woman passerby is overheard saying "that's right – woman power!". I also remember seeing on YouTube a TV programme where they were testing people's reaction to events in public places; for one of these, in a public park, an actress was physically bullying and shouting-at an actor who was pretending to be her boyfriend. Several people ignored them, then a woman was seen to walk past casting a glance at them, then, after passing, she pumped her fist in a "you go girl" kind of gesture.
