Just about everything I do is an offshoot of my animation-influenced style. The fewer lines I can use to create an image the better, although I still sometimes go back to my earlier prediliction of heavy detailing (the genie image is an example of this). A lot of my more detailed work is influenced by the now-defunct Filmation.

My GAWD I thought I was the only one who remembered Filmation! (FYI, they did He-Man, Star Trek and a pretty good Flash Gordon as I recall).

Oh no, my friend, you're not the only one! They did The New Adventures of Superman, and other DC characters in the '60s. They produced Archie, The Groovie Goolies, Fantastic Voyage, Journey to the Center of the Earth and others too numerous to list. They did the live action Shazam! and Isis shows.
But the one that was probably my favorite at the time (1969), was The Hardy Boys. Inspired by the famous series of boys' detective novels. It ran on ABC, in the same time slot as CBS's Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?, which may explain why nobody remembers the Hardy Boys even had a cartoon incarnation! (Most people remember the later live-action series that made stars out of Parker Stevenson and Shaun Cassidy; and if you're a real geezer like me, you may even remember a Hardy Boys adventure that ran as a serial on the original Mickey Mouse Club in the '50's!)
The success of "The Archies" in the Filmation version of Archie inspired the studio (and other studios like Hanna-Barbera) to try to convert almost all their later series' characters (or so it seemed) into rock-n-roll bands; and so it was with the Hardy Boys. I still have in my collection two LPs (remember them?) of songs recorded for the Hardy Boys series. They're actually pretty decent examples of "bubble-gum" pop, and I remember the songs fondly. I also remember a fondness for the female member of the "band", Wanda Kay Breckenridge. (It's her, not "Myra", I'm paying homage to with Tetsuko's last name.)
Probably WTMI (Way Too Much Information), but *sigh* that's when Saturday mornings were fun! Space Ghost, The Herculoids, Hot Wheels and Sky Hawks… does anyone else remember an animated version of King Kong?
