ParticipantExcept that ethics committes, the US FDA, the NHS and government here and multiple other factors just won't let it happen.
You're only talking about legal trials, in the US. There will always be illegal doping, not to mention
the fact that these researches could happen other countries, outside the reach of these organizations.
Gene doping would be something nearly impossible to detect, and I'm pretty sure there will large demand from athletes all over the world to have such a treatment. And where there is demand, there is always supply.alex
ParticipantAs a scientist, it grates me too. Mind you, they're talking about IGF-1, not mysostatin. I'm confident that it will work eventually, but how long it'll take and how far it'll go is another matter.
There is one factor though, which will greatly accelerate progress in this area, which is the large amount of human trials that will exist. H. Lee Sweeney, one of main scientists involved in this type of research, said that days after the "Schwarzenegger mouse" was made public, there were already multiple calls made to him from athletes and coaches offering to try out. He said there was even a high school football coach offering to use the "treatment" on his team.
People will do crazy things to excel in sports. I won't be surprised if we already see this kind of "gene doping" in the 2012 olympics.

ParticipantThis annoys me to no end. >:(
A bunch of fit girls with clear eating disorders, and they think the problem lies in the "fit" part. Bunch of idiots.

ParticipantShe was my favorite American Gladiator. So beautiful, so feminine yet soooooo buffed. I heard she benched 325 once!
I only found out much later that she was deaf.
It's sad to see someone with such fighting spirit go so young.
R.I.P.

ParticipantPlease continue.
I'm anxious to see how their relationships evolves. I think I'm not alone when I say that I wish Marissa can learn to control her temper and still grow. 🙂

ParticipantI think one of my favorites is Little Baby Daddy 2, by Puppetman, which introduced to us the universe of the Superfem.
There are others I can think about, such as the Helplesscase stories around the Superfem universe and his latest creations: Year Zero and Year One.
Also, you cannot forget Marknew's stories, specially the seemly forgotten Pendant Changes, which was going greeeaatttt (why Mark, why?!) and the also great Alt Universe.

ParticipantI'm glad you didn't shy away from the such a polemic issue as taboo. I think you're doing a very good job keeping the characters realistic, even under absurd cirunstances.
Please continue.
