Sometimes little things can make the difference: http://www.popsci.com/popsci/flat/bown/2006/product_75.html
That's it. If nails are the weak link, I hereby ban them from construction in these United States. All houses will be remade of lincoln logs or glued together. No more of this houses-flying-apart-due-to-high-winds shennanigans.

Bo InakaParticipantFor several years, I have wondered what hurricanes are like from the perspective of people living in the Caribbean. How do you plan for a life when every few years your home may see serious damage? OK, insurance is a possibility if you can afford it. Can most people afford it? I have my doubts. Does the government take the risk? How can it when the whole country can be affected at once? Do people just live in squalor until they can rebuild on their own? Do people intentionally build things that collapse easily but can quickly be set back up? Anyone have any experience with this stuff? I have lived through several hurricanes but have never been seriously affected by them. I am guessing this thread will take a very Katrina-ish turn soon and I don't want to belittle anyone's experience, but am instead trying to imagine what it's like when you don't live in one of the richest nations in the world.
Bo InakaParticipantThat is one um, incredible take on Skynyrd. I mentioned this to a friend today and he introduced me to the Red Elvises. I found their song Love Rocket on You Tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CDWnhegy5M
I think it's a riot. OK, I found others too. You Tube is full of their videos, but none of the others worked for me.Bo.
Bo InakaParticipantI have been to Japan a few times, and I was frequently impressed by the creative, even decorative use of English I saw all around, and not just on t-shirts. I was given a pot holder while there with the words "Free and Easy Penguin Cooking". I also had a saucepan with the words Easy Mama anodized into it. I have never found a satisfactory explanation for either of those.
This may be getting too far off topic. I just thought people might find it curious.

Bo InakaParticipantThat's a great shirt. But going in another direction on T-shirts, I'm a big fan of unintendedly mangled english on T shirts. This one is a recent fave.
Call it my dark sense of humor.

Bo InakaParticipantI just found two more new (to me) videos of Gracyanne Barbosa and two of a track athlete that might be interesting to members of the community. Links are available at: http://pachbundas.blogspot.com/

Also, I am finding I really like "Garage" a lot. The simplicity of it works for me.

Bo InakaParticipantCould we focus on Cindy a bit more? This racing is a pretty serious tangent to get off on.
After reading her blog today, I feel horrible for her. Nasty comments on her blog can't help. Constructive criticism is fine, but you better have earned your right to give instruction in this area. I feel that as long as she thinks she is a bodybuilder rather than a professional webcam model/actress/whatever, it isn't sensible for her to base her workouts focus on feedback from us shmoes.Bo.
Bo InakaParticipantGranted, you're right to some extent, but for her it may also be a way to connect with her fans. Most of us are here to see just this sort of thing anyhow. Some of us may enjoy the chance to communicate with her. What's the harm if it also happens to promote her career?
Bo.
Bo InakaParticipantAs always, I'm impressed by your and Zandafar's work. Thanks for sharing it with us. One question: Does "Growth Ray" have a part 4? I have seen 1-3 of 4, but never 4 of 4. Did it ever get made public?
