HELLO time to jump in I guess with FEMINISM. Real feminism and not straw feminism. Also, disclaimer, not calling any of yous guys out but just wanted to give like a good arguable point of view on why his comments are bad for other reasons.

Saying that the She-Hulk is basically just a sexy Hulk to sell comics to teens is a weird thing. It objectifies her. A lot of us on here have read Shulkie comics and you’ve probably noticed that some of them are really fucking good; she’s an excellent, three-dimensional character with agency who is not defined by being a good-looking lady. She was breaking the fourth wall long before Deadpool.

When it comes to the shape of women in comics, you can easily dish out the line “sex sells”. However while it may slightly increase sales to the male population you’re excluding more women who find it uncomfortable.

(N.B. Of course this gets fudged a bit with dudes not comfortable with it, gay ladies liking it, etc, but in general)

Why exclude half(/see above note) the population to try and sell a few more to guys? Because girls don’t read comics? Maybe they would if the Hawkeye Initiative didn’t exist.

I guess that’s a little off-topic there but wanted to cover my bases.

And yeah I know the irony of me posting this whole spiel on a forum where we look at and talk about buff ladies. There’s nothing wrong with being attracted to buff women (I feel that message is lost sometimes) and to a degree we’re probably doing good by promoting healthier women! I guess we should all just be aware of the sub-concious effects of STUFF.
