An effigy?  Isn't that a likeness of someone that's burned to show one's hatred for them?  Either you're thinking of the wrong word, or you do not like Miss Dettwiller for some reason.

effigy: n : a representation of a person (especially in the form of sculpture); "the coin bears an effigy of Lincoln"

So the word itself is merely synonymous with "statue", and has no connotations, positive or negative.

I like Lu's greeting to Otto in the final panel; she actually seems kind of shy.

    Nice work.

I tried to read between the lines of your post but couldn't squint enough, I assume that bigboats2020 knows that you are Tetsko's creator?  Or, was it a coincidence that you were the first of many intitees to respond/join?

Oh yes, he knows; in fact here's the invitation text in full:

"My yahoo group dedicated to Tetsuko. You as the creator should be in the group."

and the button to click that says "Join this group!"

Though your story is also neat, PNB; I wonder if golden apples have shown up elsewhere in mythology and legend…

    [sings]
    Don't know much about history
    Don't know much mythology
    Don't know much about apples
    d'or
But I think I need to find out more

[stops singing as an apple d'rotten is flung at him]

Both tales are legit, according to my trusty paperback Mythology by Edith Hamilton. Although it isn't quite clear exactly where the man (whose name was either Melanion, Milanion, or Hippomenes) got the three golden apples he used to distract Atalanta and thus win his race against her (and her as his wife). The book says only that "by the favor of Aphrodite" he "gained possession" of the three "wondrous apples, all of pure gold". So this and the Judgement of Paris would seem to indicate that golden apples are a recurring theme.

And as long as I'm on this topic… I'm very flattered by all the mentions of Tetsuko (and Dyna!) as a forum favorite. Thanks, everybody!

Have you ever considered contacting LH-Art about publishing your work? Add some dialogue and a few supplementary panels (some "trash talking", etc.) and this would be a prime addition to their catalog. And you'd get paid for it too!!

Else World comics never looked so good 😀

Btw… I found a mistake in the comic: :O In the last panel of the 6th page, when Tets holds up Sonya, Sonya's hair is unshade XD
(great, now I'll distract him from finishing the comic to fix minor errors) =P

    😆

Well, I just finished pages 10 and 11; now I have a decision to make:

-Go ahead and post them now, or

-Wait until I have the rest of the pages finished.

    ["Jeopardy!" theme plays]

    I can't decide!!

Hmmm… only one thing to do!

    [fishes quarter out of pocket]

    [flips coin]

Heads I post them now, tails I finish the rest first.

[tries to catch coin, fumbles the catch, coin falls to floor]

*grumble* where did it go… ah! there it is…

    It's heads. (NSFW)

Now I go to fix page 6…

I think it's just like any other image you put online.  Even if you  had your own website, someone could copy the image and distribute it at their will.  DA is simply giving a warning that when you put ANY picture online, people may do with it what they wish, not that they condone it.  People will steal art from websites and claim it as their own all the time.

True, but DA is also asserting that they can copy the image and distribute it at their will as well (but not take credit for it); that by using their website to post yout art, you've given them same rights ("a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to reproduce, distribute, re-format, store, prepare derivative works based on, and publicly display and perform Your Content") as though they owned it. That, I think, is the sticking point.

This is confusing. I found this under "Section I: General Terms" of the "Terms of Service Agreement:"

    [tt]4. Copyright

deviantART is, unless otherwise stated, the owner of all copyright and data rights in the Service and its contents. You may not reproduce, distribute, publicly display or perform, or prepare derivative works based on any of the Content without the express, written consent of deviantART. However, deviantART does not claim ownership rights in your works or other materials posted by you to deviantART (Your Content).[/tt] (emphasis added)

All well and good, right? Until you come to Section 15, "Submitting Content":

[tt]deviantART does not claim ownership rights in Your Content. For the sole purpose of enabling us to make your Content available through the Service, you grant to deviantART a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to reproduce, distribute, re-format, store, prepare derivative works based on, and publicly display and perform Your Content. Please note that when you upload Content, you allow third parties to copy, distribute and display your Content.[/tt] (italic emphasis added; bold emphasis in original)

So although they claim no ownership in your art, they can pretty much do with it what they want as though they did own it, and don't have to pay you a dime for it.

And I was actually considering opening a deviantART account…  😮
