As far as whether it's crippled, I found this note at the website:

"The Maya Personal Learning Edition restricts users to non-commercial applications through the display of a watermark on images as well as through the use of a special non-commercial file format."

"Non-commercial file format" sounds like whatever you produce in Maya Personal won't be transferrable to other 3D apps like Lightwave or Carrara. Still, if you don't mind the watermark on your images, it might be a way to do some 3D stuff.

(Oh, and there's also a version that runs on Windows 2000/XP Professional.)

BTW, I wouldn't say that being a Mac user limits your 3D options. 3D Studio Max is the only major 3D software I've seen that doesn't come in a Mac version. What you're willing or able to pay for a 3D app – that might be a limit on your options.  😆

    Behold the newest trailer.

If you watch this trailer and don't want to get this game, there is something seriously wrong with you.

Well, there is something seriously wrong with me: I totally suck at games!! (Even board games.)

Besides, those of you who are fans of my work and want to see even more of it: do you really want me getting addicted to video/computer games and have even less time to work on my stuff?

I will concur that Soul Calibur III does look kinda cool… (but I'm afraid even if I did get a game console the only game I'd play on it is that Dead or Alive volleyball game…)

Violence Jack can be considered to be a sequel of Devilman. The world was destroyed in the battle between Devilman and Satan. Satan was saddened after having killed Devilman. He decided that the world should not have ended that way and created the world of before the Apocalypse. He then turned himself into the most vile of creatures (a mute and limbless wretch) and created the Slum King to torment him."

*whew!* Only from the mind of Nagai Go…

I had to copy and paste the code, but I did get to see the pic. Nice job (as always); but I have to admit to not being a big fan of the character designs on the Cartoon Network Teen Titans series. (Guess I'm old skool, but I loved George Perez's version.)

it takes time for me to churn 'em out because I'm not sure of the "right" way to color and shade. I'm sure there's an easier way than the puttering around with palettes and then trying to smoothe it in without smudging the ink-lines that I've been doing… once I get a better idea of layers and the retouch functions, I'll go faster.

Well, I'm not going to say that this is the way to color in the computer, but it's the method I use, and I'm given to believe I get pretty good results with it.

i myself find Britney spears a little lame

Of course she's lame, as a singer anyway. But I like how comedian Dom Irrera summarized her "appeal" – this was a few years ago, so I'm paraphrasing but it went something like this: "When she's on TV, I'm there! I hit the "mute" button, lower my pants to half-mast, badaboom badabing! nobody gets hurt."

(Dom Irrera was using "badaboom badabing" years before anyone had ever heard of Tony Soprano…)

my site was mentioned in the amazons blog and since I'm too stupid to know how to comment on this, i would like to thank everyone responsible for the post in the blog. so if it was you lingster, thank you very much.

Actually it looks as though comments weren't enabled for that particular posting, so it's nothing to do with being "stupid" (which I'm sure you're not anyway).

i hope to make a mini comic on the character which could potentially be serialized(popularity pending)

I'd like to see a comic from you. If I can give you (and anyone else who's thinking about doing a comic) a piece of advice: Use a font for lettering! Very few webcomics creators I've seen do hand-lettering well, and the polish of a lettering font adds a nice touch of professionalism to any such endeavor.

Here's a site that's a great source for free fonts you can use for not-for-profit and independent publishing.

(I use a computer font myself, "Whizbang", even though my early small-press projects were praised for being adequately-to-well lettered by hand; I find fonts to be faster and easier to use than hand-lettering, and, as I said, gives that professional-looking sheen to my work.)
