My opinion seems to echo the consensus: good, serviceable art (the guy does know how to draw a muscular woman), but the story is weak. He undercuts the character horribly when, in our first good look at how she operates, he allows her to be beaten up by an apparently ordinary gang of street thugs (and has to be rescued by a cartoonish old lady wielding a stun gun!!). I think I understand what he's trying for here, but the execution fails, and we're left with a "heroine" who's incompetent at best.

Sorry to wait so long to respond to this, Ashlee.

I never considered seeing if LH-Art would be interested in publishing Tetsuko, because I'm not sure he'd be interested in publishing something that's already available for free on the Internet. (And I'm not sure he publishes color comics anyway, and color is an important part of the overall art.) And publishing it myself is too expensive a proposition to consider right now.

So, at the present time, the only place to see Tetsuko is on the Net.

    DCM…man you rock!

Thank you for the kind words, everyone!

As rastra said, I hope your part of Florida is doing ok! Thanks for this great page!

Katrina hit South Florida, too far south to have much of an effect on the Orlando area… just a lot of clouds, some wind gusts, and occasional spits of rain. Nothing really too much out of the ordinary (thank goodness!). Now it's headed for New Orleans, so it's everyone living there that deserves our concern. (I think Melissa Dettwiller lives near there… hope she'll make it through OK!)

Probably your best work so far!

I like the way you rendered the vascularity… the way the light falls across the veins… excellent!

    That is nice work.

One comment: I think the line in her thigh needs to be softened just a little; at first glance it looks like the leg is too thin, especially coming out of such a large and well-formed gluteus (and that she's got three legs?) until further study reveals that it's just her quads, not her entire thigh, that that line outlines. Making that "cut" not quite so prominent may help define the leg better. (Or soften the line that runs along the bottom of the "cheek" to join that quad line… I hope I'm not confusing things too much.)

Woot, yes, always great to see more of the stunning Tetsuko.  One has to wonder how she slipped into the doorway unnoticed.  She must have incredible powers of stealth!

No, actually, she slipped into that room just after she saw them through the window. So she was in there already when they came into the lab, waiting for just the right moment for a "dramatic reveal".

And DCManga may not be authentic manga style, but I love it to death anyway!

Maybe I should make DCManga a "brand" after all…  😀 (thanks for the kind words!)

From the foreword it sounds more like "someone" didn't wanna admit anyone was his equal if he could find a way to say otherwise.

Mmm, not quite sure that applies in de Lint's case; he's a writer (specializing in fantasy literature), not an artist.

The only criticism is that in the second panel, her head looks a little askew and not fitting with the rest of her body, in the fact it appears a little drawfed by her neck. But this simply may be because she is tensing her muscles and her neck is merely flex as the rest of her is.

Hmm… I thought this page got done a little faster than usual. Now I know why…

I,I mean, uh, yeah! Her neck is flexed! Yeah, that's it!

    You don't suck… that's a very sweet drawing, and I like it!
