ParticipantI've been a member of Lh-art in the past and the folks there seem to be honest. By the nature of the web its sometimes hard to tell who owns what. Its probably an honest mistake. I would really suggest that you contact them.

ParticipantYeah, this is a slippery slope. I know companies have to protect their content, but on the other hand who wants a customer who feels like they didn't get their money's worth.

ParticipantNot to make lite of the deaths of two people, or the near death of a 3rd, but I had no idea it was possible to type yourself to death.
We are truly living in stange days..

ParticipantI am usually impressed with the art that's posted here on the site and this one is no exception. For a layman like myself, if you hadn't mentioned the arms, I wouldn't have noticed. Good drawing and don't be too critical of yourself.
As to the seeming lack of interest on the board, I've noticed it a little myself. Some of the regular guys haven't been around much. I'm not a huge poster, but it seems like the huge posters have begun to hibernate for the spring… or something like that.

ParticipantThat little 'how to' makes me feel old. I remember when most houses still used rotary phones. Now granted I was young, but still. That's like have a 'how to' telling how to use a cassette player, but I guess they have those too.

ParticipantSadly, this sounds too much to me like the old idea that a strong work ethic and being a hard worker gets you ahead in life, which is blatantly false. Time and time again I've seen promotions and benefits handed out to those that shared a last name, or were close friends. Or people that kissed the most ass. In general the hardest workers tend to stay nothing more than grunts, cause they are good at it and management wants them there. Its the worthless brown nosers that go up the chain of command.
I've had far, FAR too many jobs were I worked ten times as hard to earn one-third the pay.
The moral? Shoulda started my own business.
I started my own business 4 years ago, and let me tell you that there is still ass that must be kissed. Its just that you're kissing up to clients and not to bosses. Same thing, but when you work for yourself and you don't kiss up then you don't miss out on a promotion, you don't eat.
Just wanted to drop that in there… On to substance using characters..
This thread has been going for a while, and at first I sort of lumped it in with the "smoking character" thread, but there is a difference since smoking and drinking are legal, and this thread's talking about drugs. Some people have brought up the age of the readers, and this hadn't really occurred to me because I didn't even discover FM stories until I was 18. There is something to the fact that younger people might read a story not knowing that there is drug use or that a character has a really dark side. I thought about it and then I realized that I read "Silence of the Lambs" when I was 13 or 14. I read "The Shining" when I was 13 or so, and the list goes on. So it would depend on how mature the reader is more than the age.
Besides, there are lots of sexually mature stories written in the FM genre. I think there's plenty of room for other mature topics to be included besides just sex and violence.demented20
ParticipantYeah lent came early this year… I was just getting over my New Years hangover and the next thing I know, my Mom calls and tells me lent is the next Wed.
And you don't have to give anything up… you can also attempt to do something for 40 days. I don't know which is easier, but oh well.I have for the past couple of years pledged to work at not being a procrastinator… I would love to tell you how well its going, but if truth be told I haven't started it yet.

ParticipantJust finished reading both parts. Most of the post have already said what I was thinking, something along the lines of, if this was real I would have already bought a ticket 🙂 Really good stuff. Can't wait on the next one…

Participant*whew everybody please step to neutral corners*
I'd just like to give a couple of my own opinions.
Like I said earlier in this thread, I own my own company and not getting paid sucks. There are some things you can do to get money from dead beats, but there is nothing in the world like getting some sort of idea or art stolen. I have been through that. If people only knew the sort of investment people put into writing in general and especially music. I have more respect for good song writers than novelist, why? Because its so hard to write a good song. I wrote a good song once(and I do mean once) and a guy who left the band I was in stole it and used it as his new band's opening song for something like 3 years. There was not a thing I could do about it. And that didn't involve much money because we were all broke at the time. I can only imagine if there had been real money involved. I might be in prison, but enough of that topic…
Now for Mangus… there is something to be said for sticking to your guns, but don't try to get around what piracy is. I do understand that corporations rule the entertainment industry, but there are a lot of regular people who work for those companies. When you steal a DVD or CD, they don't fire the big wigs, they fire the secretary or the receptionist who has 3 kids and needs the insurance. I tend to look at companies from the bottom up instead of the top down. Just remember the delivery guy and the security guard, or the maintenance guy next time.
