You sound like someone who saw it at a young age and had no idea what was actually going on other then the horrendous subpar CGI, done by a Canadian company that promised all sorts of great stuff and never delivered causing serious problems with the production staff and network. I also get the impression you didn’t read the article. Mattel insisted on about 2 – 5 minutes of interactive shots for their toys in a 24 minute show which is what caused all the odd paced battles in each episode. The series had very dark adult oriented themes in it, yes there was plot but you had to pay attention to what was going on not the special effects, and it was definitely not a happy story which culminated in the violent death of a major character at the end of the only season. I’m sorry you couldn’t get past the series problems to see what was going on. Considering the state of TV when this aired it was one hell of a groundbreaking effort in episodic television writing.
As far as the toys go…..I still have hawk, tank, captain power the powerjet xt-7 and phantom striker, with both boxes. 😛
