From what I read on another media site, the web series is just a prelude to the actual TV debut in the near future, no date set yet.

Aside from the movie airing and the DVD release in February there has been no commitment to series. David Eick who produced the series is hoping the webisodes will do well enough to show the network there is interest in it being turned into a full TV show.

“I have to admit, it was sort of perplexing to me that we didn’t get the green light that we were hoping for on the network, but I also know that there were certain blessings and curses that went along with pursuing the Battlestar franchise. On the one hand, it’s got its fan base and it’s got its credibility and it’s got its street cred and all that. But on the other hand, it may have looked at the time perhaps like not moving forward for the network, ’cause I know that they were looking to branch out into other areas of programming that would prove that they didn’t need Battlestar to be in the scripted entertainment business. And so I always knew it was a bit of a double-edged sword. But I really did hope that it would get an on-air order and it would wind up on Syfy Channel as a series.

“So this remarkable development with Machinima has been quite this pleasant surprise, because I was beginning to believe that maybe the two-hour pilot would kind of get thrown up on the schedule as a movie, and that would be that. But with this distribution platform, I think it’s positioned to be a contender for another Battlestar series in success. Whether it’s online or on the network. And so that there’s always that silver lining. Sometimes your glass really is half full, and I think this really is an indication that the Battlestar franchise has a hell of a shot at living on,” said Eick.

The Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champion has fought her final fight for the promotion and is set to make her UFC debut in the near future, TMZ reported Thursday night. The Web site also reported that the recently announced Jan. 12 Strikeforce card in Oklahoma City will be the promotion’s last.

MMAFighting.com confirmed with sources close to the promotion that both news items are in fact true and more information is expected to be released early next week.

It is unknown at this time when Rousey (6-0) and the rest of the Strikeforce women will make their debuts in the UFC, but it will most certainly happen at some point next year. Women have never fought inside the Octagon during the UFC’s 19-year history.

As recently as earlier this year, UFC president Dana White was very hesitant to even consider forming a women’s division in the UFC, but the emergence of Rousey has apparently changed his mind.

“She’s a (expletive) unique individual. She’s like a Diaz brother,” White said in September. “She really is. Inside like a (expletive) dude trapped in this beautiful body. The reason I got interested in women’s MMA is because of her … everyone is like it’s cause she’s good-looking and ‘Dana blah-blah.’ Gina Carano is good-looking too. She’s very pretty. There’s (expletive) something different about Ronda Rousey.”

Strikeforce and Showtime officials refused to comment on the story when contacted by MMAFighting.com. Rousey’s manager Darin Harvey would also not confirm the story when asked for a comment.
