ParticipantBlack, true that Lisa is no spring chicken (I think she is 47? 48?). That said, she hasnt been competing for nearly as long as those others — Dayana has been competing as a pro for 15 years +, Yaxeni slightly longer, and Annie R for two decades. Lisa’s physique always looks young and vibrant, her enormous muscles pop and bulge like they belonged to the body of a much younger woman. I remember seeing her at the Atlantic City Pro last year, and she really put some of the other women to shame, including Nicole Ball who is at least a decade younger. So its not so much about age as it is the longevity of the bodybuilder’s career.

Participant1. Lisa Aukland retiring: now THAT is bad news. She had many, many good years left in her. She had some of the best calves I’ve ever seen on a female bodybuilder. If she had persevered she would have won a MS O title, no question about it.
2. To The Collector’s point that fbbs don’t make any money: they don’t from contests. But there’s a bundle to be made from the internet. I know a couple of female bodybuilders who make an absolute killing on their own websites. Demand for female bodybuilders may be restricted to a fairly small market, but that market is intensely loyal, high income earning, and willing to dish out a lot of money to see their favorite muscle girls in videos, webcams, pay websites etc… If you got the brains, creativity and imagination, I know for certain you can make a good mint from a female bodybuilding career.

ParticipantIf I head to a show it isnt because I want to see the Dayana’s, the Annie R’s, the Yaxeni’s of the world creaking on stage. I go to see Nicole Ball, Tina Chandler, Sarah Hayes, and other fresh, promising young talent, as do most other fans. You are not going to attract an audience with the old timers — the sport is all about health, youth and beauty. The old legends, as great as they once were (and I’m not just saying that Yaxeni for example is a huge figure in the sport) are irrelevant now and need to get out of the way — its time for them to head to the retirement home and get started on their shuffleboard game.

ParticipantYou’re right Fasola — she does bear more of a resemblance to Fleur (who was gorgeous and blonde) than Ginny (who was “only” pretty and a red-head). But I seem to remember that Harry and Fleur were more rivals than friends in the series — didnt she compete against him in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”?
Speaking of Harry Potter, I’ve been listening to the audiobooks of the series (narrated by the supremely talented Jim Dale) and they are simply AWESOME. They take the story to a WHOLE new level — a better experience than the books, and a much better experience than the movies. Highly recommended to all Potter/Fantasy fans out there.

ParticipantLooks like Ginny Weasley has really been hitting the
weights! (Harry Potter fans will get this one 🙂 )khuddle
ParticipantWell, hopefully this will begin clearing the way for young
and fresh new talent to make their way up the ranks
of female bodybuilding. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but for the sport
to thrive, it needs to get rid of some of the old timers. Hopefully,
Yaxeni, Dayana, Annie R, and some of the other senior citizens of the
sport will follow Betty’s example and fade gracefully into the shadows.khuddle
ParticipantAs if her incredible beauty wasnt enough, now she is starting to put on size as well…I can’t handle it…looking at her super-smug, super-confident expression as she pumps her awesome muscles…well I have to put hands over my eyes to make sure they dont pop out!

ParticipantWhat is she, the Brett Favre of Women’s Bodybuilding?

ParticipantYeah in my 20s I spent a ton of money and time on female bodybuilders. While earning my Master’s Degree at the University of Florida from ’96-’97, I was going to a contest just about every week-end (Florida like California is just packed with shows from about March though September). And I would treat myself to about two sessions a year.
Now at the age of 40, my passion for the sport, whille still alive, is significantly subdued. I limit myself to one show a year — Tampa Pro Show (if it has a decent line-up ie one that includes Nicole Ball and Tina Chandler :)), or the Southern States which is always packed with fem-muscle, on stage and off. Sessions, I might have one now every two or three years.
I think my passion has diminished partly because I am getting older, partly because I’ve “been there, done that”, but mostly because the girls are getting smaller and sleeker rather pushing the limits of size and muscularity like we all hoped they would during the “golden years” of women’s bodybuilding ie. the 90s.August 18, 2010 at 2:36 am in reply to: Star Wars (The All-Encompassing Comprehensive Thread) #94924khuddle
ParticipantOh wow another cheap publicity stunt on the part of “Uncle George” Lucas in the hopes of selling tons of Blu-Ray versions of the original trilogy. I guess the catastrophe that were the Prequels (bitter Star Wars fan talking here) left him in the red, and he now needs to make money bad.
