This falls in line with the vision that should be actually out in the world
A Perfect Cross between Xena & Wonder Woman
Mainly because Neither 1 wears bicycle shorts in battleYeah…and they even managed to make her roundhouse-kick evil in the face with that skirt (nice briefs, btw).
oriander2000Participantoriander2000ParticipantArtist Stjepan “Nebezial” Sejic did, as always, a few excellent reinterpretations that dwell more on the “Valkyrie” side:
It’s curious how the kids’ role models shifted from the 80s til today: first they were adults (He-Man, GIJoe, Thundercats, etc…), and now they are kids or teens at least (all the japanese cartoons, CN shows). That’s why the character got rejuvenated imho.
– First, did the character need a reboot? Probably; I watched He-Man as a kid, but She-Ra was too “for girls” (it was, after all). I must admit her show had awesome villains, though, and the “Rebels vs Rulers” was a better premise than “Kingdom vs Attackers”.
– The “tomboy” looks stem from Legend of Korra, I think: all the Water Tribe women are drawn with no lips, and Korra is a certified badass. Also, I like the fact the women are drawn all different from each other: in the original show they all looked alike, like Barbie dolls (no surprise, since Filmation used the same female model for ALL their shows).
Now, let’s be honest:
– All those who attack the nostalgics and critics care zero about the show; they are just the usual bunch of feminists that squee at every “Womyn Empowerment” hint they perceive…and among them, the classic Internet warrior Lesbians that cannot wait to butch her up even more and declare *all* the characters in the series “Lesbian Icons“.
So progressive.
I don’t agree with either of the postures, but at least the “nostalgics” do care about the show for the show itself, instead of seeing it just as an excuse to further their agendas/postures/propaganda/movement/representation/whatever.oriander2000ParticipantIt seems they are two different characters, á la Alone in the Dark, called [Alexios and Kassandra.
And I agree with BodyByBane , she’s just bait for feminists/lesbians, not for female muscle fans…so, let’s count the seconds til she’s named a lesbian ic…what? Already? Five seconds after…? :blink:oriander2000ParticipantLooks-wise, that’s ok, I’m just referring to all this PC sub-narrative…rubbish.
One thing is “choose your character’s gender” and another is “choose this character’s gender“. It’s like someone is trying to turn gender into just a switchable variable (imho, it isn’t). If the character has a defined name, “gender” shouldn’t be an option. Not because I’m close-minded, just…I don’t like this “new-speech” , borderline-indoctrination stuff.
Anyway, sorry for the digression.
oriander2000ParticipantYou can select the *character* (like the old Alone in the Dark games)..or the character’s *gender* (like Mass Effect)?
Please don’t tell me AC has too fallen into that pit….
oriander2000ParticipantNothing “new” for sure…not by a long, long way, given that Chun Li was the first decent pair of beefy legs we all have seen in a video game. Just an anecdote of something that happened to me a few years ago (yeah, I’m *that* perceptive).
In her most famous SFA games’ winning pose, when she raises her leg, the focus of the picture is (duh) her crotch…but so far, I hadn’t noticed her standing leg, that bulges into genuine fbb proportions.
Guess I had been caught into a genuine magician’s trick, where I was too distracted looking at the other hand.
oriander2000ParticipantIt’s just research, like every “spoiler” we see for series / movies / comics / cartoons. If there’s a loud acceptance, they do it. If there’s an outrage, they’ll claim it was trolls.
