Has Petra Martinez from “Love and Rockets” been mentioned here? She is listed in Comicvine, but in her “before” shape:

    http://comicvine.gamespot.com/petra-martinez/4005-51635/images/

Then she became addicted to swimming, Kickboxing and weightlifting, and developed huge arms:
    Synthol-sized cannons, better said.

Then she remarried and put on a lot of weight…but that’s subject for another community, I assume. 😉

More girls from the site: http://comicvine.gamespot.com/profile/comicboy12/lists/muscle-girls/29854/

I see she’s doing fine…a few years ago there was a documentary about her and her family. She and her sister were the typical “Daddy’s Project”: the guy (some kind of circus performer) wanted to make them both strong as they could get, fitting them with weights (rice bags) even before they could walk. A certain study showed that Varya’s muscles had a much higher number of fibers tan any girl her age.

I said it earlier in this same post: it’s not how much muscle you pack; it’s how much you resemble a fighter/warrior. Or better said, how physically dangerous you look like.
Lucy Lawless wasn’t buff in Xena, but she looked crazy dangerous to look believable; same with Grace Jones in the second Conan movie. On the other hand, we get the actress who played Atalanta in the Rock’s “Hercules” movie, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal: she’s physically (very) well built, with noticeable biceps and all but she’s just little more tan eyecandy…doesn’t look like a warrior to me.

Little fun fact: she’s not an “athlete in costume”; she’s an actual Norwegian actress with a career who bulked up for the role.

Personally, I think G.G. is not fit for the role; but then, we’ll have to wait what she can give to the character with her skill and looks (she’s really pretty, after all). Remember this:

    – Anthony Perkins didn’t look like Norman Bates at all.
    – Neither does Anthony Hopkins with Hannibal Lecktor Lecter. In fact, Brian Cox looks a lot more like the character.

Okay, I was kinda cheating, since those were book characters and nobody actually knew them before their respective movies. So…

    – Chris Hemsworth looks a lot like Thor, but Tom Hiddleston is the physical opposite of Loki…who do people remember more?
    – If anyone asked you in 2007 who would be an excellent choice for playing Tony Stark, 90% of the people would’ve said “Tom Cruise”, the first choice.
Batman Bruce Wayne was never blond, yet we’ve had so far two blonde actors portraying him.
    – Hugh Jackman. Enough said. The guy who made us believe Wolverine was tall, young, with a big nose and kinda handsome.
    – None of the Jokers so far resemble the comic book version (Nicholson’s build and face are too big), but they’ve all been memorable. Yes, even Cesar Romero’s.

As for looking like a fighter…well, many actors portray dangerous/rightful crazy psychopaths in movies, but are really charming and soft mannered individuals in real life. Since there are too many examples, I’ll leave it to your memory.

Again, let’s hope she gives a lot to the character in order to change the public perception of her. Christopher Reeve did (with Superman no less!), Heath Ledger did…Wesley Snipes did. Strangely, a big character like Spiderman wasn’t affected by the two good actors that have portrayed him.

    Just my two cents.

Yes, but look at the video’s title: “Post-Contest“. Meaning there’s a contest video and photos of her in top shape out there, somewhere… :woohoo:
She’s quite cute (doesn’t represent her age – she looks younger sometimes), and her body has the perfect balance of musculature and femininity: soft looking but with defined muscles.

I’m sure the character’s been mentioned in this thread, but I wanted to point out a certain thing about Blue Mary. While her in-game sprites picture her ratherly plain, in her selection portraits in the Fatal Fury games she looks particularly fit, with nice abs:

This was inverted in the King of Fighters games, where her winning portrait shows her quite plain, in her game sprites she looks directly buff, especially with big shoulders and bis.

    “Damn right”.

A character that has been quite ignored in the muscular section is Mai Shiranui: it’s vey rare to see official art depicting her with nice muscle tone. A shame, since she shows a lot of skin. The more we could see of her was her winning portrait in the KoF 94 game, where she looks almost like a Bikini competitor – 1% bodyfat and 99% silicone.

    “Best of Japan!”

Can anyone translate the Aurebesh note that the colorist from the 2nd picture added to the chess-like game board? 😉

(I can remember the alphabet’s name but not the game…50% on the Geek Test!)

The usual prejudice…just because Gina “Angeldust” Carano is (waay) fitter than the average female movie action star, she gets dubbed “José Canseco”. :pinch: Ouch.

Since I can’t edit the post twice, I must create another. To give credit where it’s due: the characters from Outrunners and Sarah from Golden Axe III have been already mentioned here:

I vaguely remember this game. Don’t seem to be too muscular.

Hence, “(…)sported a nice muscle tone in both her selection and winning portraits (not so much in her in-game sprites)” 😉

Wait a minute,..there was a FBBer in OutRunners???

Yes, a bb couple actually, piloting a green buggy named “The Wild Chaser”.

Although he doesn’t look too buff here. Anyway, the character isn’t either blonde, or wearing a bikini, so it could be a different one…

In their “good” ending, they start posing so hard their clothes rip/explode leaving them in posing suits:

Haven’t found the “bad” ending, though. But here’s their sprite sheet, so we can deduce that they hit the weights.

Speaking of Outrunners…there’s a cameo from Dora the Centauress in Greece, sporting her buff arms.

Any other muscles’ appreciation goes right into Furry territories. Be warned.

Aaand speaking of Golden Axe…in GAIII, there’s Sarah Barn/Burn/Vane, who, despite being “just” a dancer, is noticeably more muscular than Tyris Flare.

A couple of old games…sorry if already posted.

Kaiser Knuckle, a fighting game by Taito, had a typical “Jungle Girl” type named Liza who sported a nice muscle tone in both her selection and winning portraits (not so much in her in-game sprites):
    Yep, same character.

Also, there was a game by SEGA called Tant-R, which basically was a lot of mini games. One of the puzzles showed a couple of bodybuilders (I erased the male).

Reminds me of the female bodybuilder from Outrunners…probably because of the style. 😉
