We may not get our wishes of seeing a buff female action lead on tv and the big screen but at least we have awesome female heroes. And you can bash Krysten Ritter as much as you want for her physique but she did an awesome job and the show is great. I can’t wait for more. As it is, I havent been disappointed with a marvel casting yet and thats why I think that Brie Larson will be great.

And its important to have female heroes in general that do well before we get away from the body stereotypes (which will probably never be if we look at even male heroes). But I find this trashing of acresses here just because of their bodys disappointing. Especially since we want tolerance and acceptance for everybody, don’t we?

Its babysteps man. First hollywood needs to proove (to itself) that badass female heroes are a thing and can attract people. Then they hopefully will start to break these body-stereotype that every female on film needs to be a skinny model (if she isn’t a comedian or a villain).

I will wait and see how this movie turns out. There is a chance to be great and it is to us to go watch and see it to signal hollywood, that we want more badass female heroes. The same goes for Captain Marvel … even more so because I trust the guys running the MCU because in my opinion they didnt make a casting mistake yet.

How we change Hollywood? Babysteps. Muscular women will probably always be some sort of a side thing but in the last years we tend to see at least strong women more and more in TV and movies. And as unkn0wnX pointet out, Hollywood is a mirror of society. From what I believe strong women showing some muscularity are way more accepted these days then a few years ago. So all we can do is sit and see how it turns out. Maybe we will get a bit of it with Marvels She Hulk TV-series should it really be made.

Until then I think we should enjoy good movies and not be too overly critic about casting choices. Yeah, Gal Gadot was a disappointment especially when you think she should embody THE amazon in todays culture. I tend to be a bit more forgiving with marvel considering that they didn’t fuck up a casting choice in the last few years (even Jessica Jones which I thought was horrible casting before I saw it turned out to be really great).

In my opinion the whole internet should take a sit back and wait with critisizing things AFTER we saw how it turned out, not directly right at the announcement.

I think its more likely that female actors are able and willing to put on a few pounds of muscle for a role than a fitness/physique competitor going through acting school. In the case of Wonder Woman … I would have been more than happy if Gal Gadot had a physique compareable to Hilary Swank in “Million Dollar Baby” or even Jessica Biel in “Blade Trinity”. But they went for “skinny model in an amazonian-esque armor”. But they got so many things wrong in this movie that complaining about that seems like pissing against the wind now 😀

Should Comic-Book movies still be this popular in a few years I am positive that we will get a She Hulk. Not in a stand alone movie but in a role similar to the Hulk nowadays or Hawkeye. Then we will really see if Hollywood will ever be “man enoug” to show females that look like they can pack a punch.

Hello, long time reader, first time poster here …

I am surprised that noone mentioned Illaoi from League of Legends here. She was implemented a few months ago and sports a figure comareable to that of Zarya from Overwatch.

    Splashart:

Model vor Voidbringer skin … couldn’t post a 2nd picture so I just give you the link.

She is fun to play but sadly a tad weak in the current meta … but that is not an information thats relevant here, i think 😉
